About me and my therapy practice
*I currently have a limited number of spaces for new adult CBT clients*
Talking therapy is undoubtedly a unique source of support for whole range of psychological issues, including anxiety, anger, and low mood. However, talking therapy is not just for mental health problems, it is also incredibly helpful for things like working through relational problems - with partners, friends or family, work stress, difficult life events and challenges that might affect your daily functioning.
Speaking your thoughts and feelings aloud can help you gain insight and perspective, helping you cope better with the challenges of everyday life. I can offer you a warm, supportive and encouraging therapeutic space to help you articulate and work through your issues. I can work with you to help you explore unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, and support you with creating positive changes so that you can move forward and get on with your life.
I work with adults and young people (13+) at my private practice based in the centre of Thame offering short-term and long-term counselling, psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I also work in secondary education as a school counsellor, working with students and staff, alongside my private practice.
I strongly believe that building a strong, trusting collaborative relationship between therapist and client is the key to successful therapeutic outcomes. However, it is useful to know what kind of therapy you might be offered to help you get the most out of counselling. As an integrative practitioner I am able to draw on a range of talking therapy techniques and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Location
I am based in the centre of Thame OX9 3EX.
Practice description
As an integrative therapist my counselling work integrates a variety of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural (CBT) modalities. Each approach works on exploring and gaining insight into individual behaviours, beliefs, emotions and thoughts which may be contributing to your current difficulties.
Integrative counselling is a combined approach to therapy which flexibly blends components of different therapies. Integrative therapists work with the idea that there is not one sole therapeutic approach that fits every client in every situation. Instead, each person needs to be considered holistically in terms of their physical, mental and emotional well-being. Talking therapy interventions are tailored accordingly to individual needs and personal circumstances by using specific techniques and key concepts drawn from various approaches.
Psychodynamic talking therapies involve exploring your early and past experiences and relationships to seek out thoughts, feelings, and memories that may be influencing your current difficulties in the here and now. CBT focuses more on the present and teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your interconnected thoughts, beliefs and attitudes might affect your feelings and actions.
We can work together to determine which particular therapeutic model might work best for you.
