About me and my therapy practice
Counselling is undoubtedly a unique source of support for whole range of psychological issues, including anxiety, anger, and low mood. However, counselling is also hugely beneficial for things like dealing with relationship problems, issues with work, working through difficult childhood experiences and understanding specific patterns you might have developed which could be creating relational difficulties in your life.
I have worked as a counsellor for over ten years. I work with adults and young people (14+) in my private practice. I also work in a secondary school as a school counsellor.
Speaking aloud and verbalising your thoughts and feelings can let you see them from a different perspective, helping you cope better with everyday life. I can offer you a confidential therapeutic space to help you articulate and work through your issues, explore unhelpful patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, and help you focus on making positive changes so that you can move forward and get on with living your life.
If you’re not sure if I’m the right practitioner for you or your young person, I can offer you a free 20 minute telephone consultation where we can talk about what you hope to get out of counselling and you can ask me any questions you may have before you commit to booking a session.
Location
I am based in the centre of Thame.
Practice description
I strongly believe that establishing strong, supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship is fundamental to successful therapeutic outcomes. However, it is useful to know what kind of therapy you might be offered to help you reach your goals. As an Integrative therapist my counselling work integrates a variety of psychodynamic, cognitive and behavioural modalities. Each approach works on exploring and gaining insight into individual behaviours, beliefs, emotions and thoughts which may be contributing to your current difficulties.
Integrative counselling is a combined approach to therapy which flexibly blends components of different therapies. Integrative therapists work with the idea that there is not one sole therapeutic approach that fits every client in every situation. Instead, each person needs to be considered holistically in terms of their physical, mental and emotional well-being. Counselling interventions are tailored accordingly to individual needs and personal circumstances by using specific techniques and key concepts drawn from various approaches.
