About me and my therapy practice
I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist and have been working in this field for about 30 years. I work both face to face and online. Sessions are usually 50 minutes in duration, but can be 60 minutes on request.
I have worked with a wide variety of presenting issues, such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationships and parenting.
I work both short and long term.
Practice description
I would aim to establish a warm, honest and trusting relationship with a client, in order to enable them to be open about what is concerning them.
If the client is open to experimenting with art therapy, sandplay, free writing or other creative ways of working, I have suitable materials in my consulting room.
My first session
The first session is a time when myself and the prospective client can get to know each other a little and the client can explain their current circumstances and what brings them to therapy.
I charge the same fee as usual for the session. In the event of my deciding I am not the best person to work with a client I would waive the fee.

Availability
I have spaces for supervisees at the moment, usually in the mornings or evenings during the week.
About me and my therapy practice
My principal training has been at the Gestalt Centre London. I am a UKCP Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist as well as a Snr Accredited BACP Counsellor. I have been working in this field for about 30 years. My supervision training was at the University of Leicester.
I view supervision as as a collegial relationship - we are both professionals who contract to meet to discuss the supervisee's clinical work. We both have expertise in the wider therapeutic field and the supervisee has direct experience with their client.
I am happy to listen to tapes of client work, give feedback and support trainees in submitting case studies.
Practice description
I work online and face to face with supervisees. We can negotiate how long the sessions are, perhaps 50, 60, 75 or 90 minutes; also, how frequent, weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
I am happy to use creative methods of working, such as sandtray or drawing, if supervisees are open to this and have the necessary materials in my consulting room.
My first session
The first session of supervision would be largely devoted to getting to know more about the supervisee: their training, current status as a counsellor (training or qualified), what is their work setting (private practice, EAP, unpaid placement, working for an organisation etc), the amount of counselling experience, number of clients, presenting issues and so on.
I would also be interested in knowing a little of their personal circumstances as these can impact on the work.
I would charge the same fee as usual for an initial session but would waive it if I decided not to work with the person for any reason.
