About me and my therapy practice
Are you stressed, suffer disrupted sleep, have mood swings or generally feel out of sorts? There may be other areas, such as relationships, work, health and well-being that you wish to discuss and get an independent view on. Speaking to a professional, with no link to your regular life, can provide the safety and freedom so that you can fully express yourself. This can bring clarity and relief. I will provide support, guidance and an independent view to help you think things through. I am happy to have a chat on the phone so that you get an idea of how it works and for you to hear my voice. We can work time limited or open-ended.
In therapy work, I am experienced and happy to work with a range of issues; it is not helpful, I think, to list all the problems but instead we together work out what is most urgent for you. It may be, and usually is, several smaller issues that put together become overwhelming or difficult to live with. The goal is to bring relief, clarity and peace of mind
When searching for a therapist, which can be a difficult task, it is important to find 'your person'; that is someone with whom you feel comfortable and can build a trusting therapeutic alliance with. That is why I suggest that we meet for an initial consultation, and even before that, have a chat on the phone. How did you feel in the conversation.
Practice description
The therapy sessions are generally 45 minutes in duration and conducted mainly virtually. In the first session we will discuss your situation and what is troubling you. In order to better understand things, I will ask some questions about the past and family history. You are welcome to discuss anything you wish, and provide as much detail as you like. Once we have discussed and established that we will be working together, we will meet once weekly, mostly on the same day and time each week. I can provide more or less structure to the session so that you get the support that you need in order for us to working together.

My first session
The initial session lasts for 45 minutes, as do subsequent sessions. I use two questionnaires, called GAD7 and PHQ9, to establish the level of anxiety and depression that may be present.
