About me and my therapy practice
When you are considering counselling you often have many questions. I hope that the following will give you a sense of who I am and how I work.
My role as a counsellor is to be someone neutral, who will listen to you without preconceptions and will not be influenced by anything outside of what you bring to the sessions. You are able to choose what you reveal, and when, and can dictate the pace at which we go.
The kind of issues clients bring covers a wide range. Anxiety, depression, and relationship issues of any description are often reasons to come to counselling. You may feel sad, have feelings of low self esteem or lack of self confidence. Perhaps you are struggling with feelings of anger, shame, or loneliness. You may have experienced loss; perhaps for a person, job, place or role in life. Counselling offers a way understand and come to terms with these bereavements. You may simply feel overwhelmed by your emotions and the pressures of life. Alternatively you may find it difficult to experience or express any feelings at all.
Counselling can also help you explore wider issues, such as finding your place in the world, deciding which path to take in life and give you support while you go through a time of difficult change. It can be used to help you understand and accept questions that may have arisen in your life around areas of sexuality, your cultural experience, or spirituality.
I will listen to you without judgement and with respect for your feelings and your experiences.
My first session
I understand that it takes courage to take the first step into counselling and that it is important to feel comfortable with your counsellor. Therefore, I offer a free 'no-obligation' consultation.
A Consultation is an informal online meeting, pre arranged at a mutual time.
It is an opportunity for you to find out if counselling with me is right for you. We will talk about what has brought you to look at counselling, what you want to achieve and go through any questions you may have. This usually takes about 20 minutes.
If you would like any further information or would like to book in, please do not hesitate to contact me.
