About me and my therapy practice
I offer counselling in a calm, private room overlooking a peaceful garden. Working together, we look towards finding a way forward to try to effect change and to make issues, which are causing problems and distress, manageable, or even to resolve them successfully. In addition to qualifying for a diploma in humanistic and integrative counselling in 2014, I trained as a bereavement volunteer (counsellor) with Cruse Bereavement Care in 2010 and have also worked in a young people's counselling agency since 2012.
Practice description
I trained at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (bcpc) for a BACP accredited diploma in Humanistic and Integrative therapy. My work is essentially person centred, as I believe that we all have the solutions to our issues within us, but sometimes we need help to discover them. When we feel unable to cope, making that first step to engage with counselling can feel enormous, as often we feel that asking for help is 'failure', but actually it's a very positive and pro-active choice to make and is the start on the road to discovery and even recovery. Working together, we hope to make the presenting issues at least manageable and, at best, to be able to resolve them. Counselling is fundamentally collaborative work which we do together.
My first session
I offer the first session free of charge, so that you have the opportunity to reflect on whether, or not, you wish to continue. It also gives me the opportunity to assess whether or not I can offer you the best form of counselling for your presenting issues. If we both feel that we can work together, then further sessions are charged for.
