About me and my therapy practice
Qualifications:-
Diploma (HE) Counselling
BA (HONS) Counselling & Psychotherapy
I am a registered member of BACP and practice within their Ethical Framework.
I offer therapy to individuals over 18 regardless of sexual or gender orientation, in a safe environment with an experienced, Integrative counsellor. An integrative approach means blending different techniques to support each individual as we are all unique...it's not a 'one size fits all' approach.
After working with a Portsmouth based practice for several years I set up in private practice in 2009.
Practice description
I practice from my home in Cowplain where clients can park on the drive. There are no signs on display advertising my business and as I take a break between my sessions you won't bump into other clients.
Counsellors are non-judgemental and supportive and have no agenda in your life. Their aim is to walk with you on your journey not to tell you where you should go or what you should do. As you unfold your story to the therapist it may help you to get a more focused view and move forward.
My first session
Finding the right therapist is essential as the relationship has to be one of trust for you to be able to be open and honest, it is the key to your personal growth. After this first session you may need time to decide if you want to come back and see me again. Most clients book sessions one at a time rather than block book.
I work between 12 o'clock and 6pm Monday to Friday.
The first session involves taking details of any health issues and medications, brief history regarding any close relationships and family.
I will talk about confidentiality and answer any questions you may have.
Many people want to get straight to the reason they've sought help and find it easy to talk, others may find it hard to get started at this first meeting.
