About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative Counsellor and postgraduate qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist offering sessions to individual adults 18+. I am registered and accredited with both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and  the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). For over twelve years I have offered counselling and psychotherapy in various settings. These include private practice, schools, GP surgery and local charitable organisations.

I worked with North Kent Mind Counselling and NHS Talking Therapies Services over an eleven year period, as an Integrative Counsellor and as a High Intensity Therapist, delivering Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for a diverse range of clientele. I am experienced and comfortable working with complexity and with adults of all ages and circumstances.

My training and experience incorporates different therapeutic disciplines.  I can offer an Integrative approach or purely Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach depending on individual preference or need. When offering an integrative approach, I use different therapy approaches from different therapy models to create a tailor-made therapy plan for you. The main theoretical approaches I integrate are Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Relational and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Practice description

My approach is warm and collaborative. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental, and supportive space, through which in the context of a safe and validating relationship, you can explore and gain insight into whatever is troubling you.  Therapy with me can provide you with increased insight and self-esteem as well as the coping skills you need to heal, manage, and gain relief from intense emotions, and break free from limiting thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

My private practice is based in Bexley just minutes from Bexleyheath Broadway and Bexley village. I work from a quiet, comfortable, downstairs accessible room in DA5. If travelling by car, there is parking on the driveway or on immediately surrounding streets. Just minutes from Bexleyheath Broadway and Bexley village. Bexley rail station is 15 minutes walk and local buses stop nearby on Gravel Close.

I am fully insured, accredited, and work within the Ethical Frameworks of the BACP and BABCP.

If finances are a barrier to accessing support please contact me to find out my availability to offer a reduced fee. A small number of my sessions are offered at a concessionary rate.

My first session

Our first session is an assessment session that provides a safe space in which you can begin to discuss what has led you to seek therapy at this time and what you would like to gain from the sessions.

I will initially ask a few questions in order to better understand you and your circumstances. We use our time to begin to talk about the issues that are troubling you and to determine whether therapy would be helpful for you. Our first meeting gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

We discuss my confidentiality and record-keeping practices, data protection, your availability to attend regular therapy sessions, session format, and we discuss therapy fee.

This first meeting gives us both a sense of how we feel talking with each other and helps us to decide whether we are comfortable working with each other going forward.

At the end of our meeting if we decide to proceed, we will agree the first session date and time.
