About me and my therapy practice

I have been practising counselling/psychotherapy since September 2000. I obtained my post-graduate diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2002, my post-graduate advanced diploma in the Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts in 2012 and my post-graduate diploma in Parent-Child Therapy in 2015. I also obtained a certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling in 2021 following 80 hours of training during the pandemic.

My initial training was psychodynamic, which means exploring possible links between our current emotional reactions in relationships and our early life experiences.

The variety of trainings I have attended are like different ways of working I keep in my symbolic toolbox. So I can apply these different techniques depending on the emotional needs presented during the sessions.

Generational experiences may come up for us to reflect on and make sense of in our sessions. Parent-Child Therapy can benefit adult parents and their adult children who wish to understand childhood traumas.

Your therapeutic journey can alter your early ways of dealing with emotional challenges with your current adult capacity. It can also help you to move towards a more fulfilling way of relating, whilst feeling more confident about who you are and working towards realising your hopes.

As a multilingual and multicultural person my life and work experiences have been shaped by international dynamics, which nurture my understanding of being different, and help me to connect to different cultures and related values on a deeper level. I am bilingual speaker of Turkish and English as well as speaking German at an advanced level. I also speak Italian and Spanish at an intermediate level and I am a beginner in Korean.

I have had a chance to work with a variety of ages among my clients, ranging from 5 to 80+.

I review our therapeutic work at regular times, as your emotional needs might change and to offer you an opportunity to give feedback on your therapeutic experience.

Practice description

If the assessment session encouraged you to start with the weekly sessions routine, we would need to agree on a day and time for our online sessions.

It would be important to have the sessions regularly, at the same time and on the same day.

We would also need to discuss the duration of the therapeutic work.

We can reflect on whether brief therapy intervention or open-ended work would be beneficial for your emotional needs.

For the therapeutic work to have a chance to develop we would need to respect the pace that would feel right for you.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to sharing one's experiences in a confidential therapeutic space.

I am to promote a non-judgemental, accepting, caring, respectful and compassionate approach.

The therapeutic space is there to share, reflect and make sense of one's emotional experiences and possible reactions to the communication during the session.

My first session

Once agreed via a brief telephone or email communication,

I offer an initial assessment session .

This is an opportunity for both of us.

For me to assess as to whether what I am able to offer therapeutically, would be the right intervention for you.

For you to get a sense of whether weekly therapeutic intervention the way I offer feels right for you.

You can ask any questions you might have about the therapeutic process.

Confidentiality and therapeutic boundaries, like session times, payment procedures, missed sessions and endings are detailed.

For me it is important to understand what might be bringing you to go on the counselling/psychotherapy journey at this time of your life.

It is also important what you might be hoping to gain along this therapeutic journey.

Early life experiences and current life dynamics could be discussed if it is the right time to do so for you.

The assessment session is offered for 1 hour 30 minutes.

It is important to respect your capacity within this length.

The fee is £90 and paid in advance via a bank transfer.
