About me and my therapy practice

Are you struggling with anxiety, stress, relationships or overwhelm? Is something from your past getting in the way of your present life? Do you find it difficult to feel content or happy? My 20 years of experience of working with many people has given me the tools, knowledge and insight into how to help you.

Are you an older person struggling with the challenges that come with changes, illness, loss, bereavement, and fear of the future? My own experiences of loss and bereavement inform how I work with you to help you develop healthy coping strategies.

Life is difficult and it can feel impossible to discuss with friends or family. Counselling can help.

I believe that everyone is an individual and needs a bespoke therapy that suits their way of being. I can use a range of therapies but mostly I listen and try to understand you as best I can, so we can work together; raising awareness, increasing understanding of what works and what doesn't in your life and creating goals or changes to improve your well-being, relationships and future.

Would you like to understand why you respond to life and other people the way you do? I may introduce Internal Family Systems into our work, which reaches a deeper level to heal the parts of yourself which may have been wounded or traumatised in the past.

Practice description

I find it useful to have an introductory session where we can work out if we can work together and then contract for up to 6 sessions. (You are not committed to attending 6 if you don't need them) After the 6 sessions we can look at how you are and can contract for more sessions if you feel they are necessary.

I work face to face in my confidential counselling room in Llandegfan. It has it's own entrance but is not wheelchair accessible. There is a bus stop just outside - Menai Bridge and Beaumaris buses are 2 hourly.

I am a BACP Accredited counsellor who has been working in private practice and EAP's since 2004. I comply with the BACP code of conduct and ethics and have regular supervision, insurance, a DBS, and continuing professional development.

My first session

Our first session is for us to find out if we get along. Please ask questions. I will answer honestly and to the best of my ability.

I will give you space and time to tell your story, your worries, issues and problems. I will ask you what you would like to get out of the counselling sessions. I may use an assessment form if I think it would be helpful to you. You can then decide if you would like to have further sessions. There is no obligation for you to continue.

I normally book the same day and time each week for you, but that can be changed if it doesn't work for you.
