About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome to my listing for supervision.

I really enjoy being a supervisor and offering a space to supervisees to explore and grow.  I get the most pleasure from seeing growth in counsellors and walking along side them in their journey whatever stage that may be!  10 years on, I am still growing and learning myself and hope this never stops and I will bring my enthusiasm for this work into the supervision setting.

I am a BACP accredited counsellor with over 10 years of experience of working with adults, children and young people.  I work face to face, by telephone and online and have done for several years now.  So let me know how you would like to attend your supervision, if you like to do a blend of online and face to face, I do not recommend telephone counselling for supervision.

I am an Integrative counsellor and supervisor.  I am also trained in CBT, family therapy, working with children and young people and I am now undertaking EMDR therapy training.

My private practice based in Torquay, Devon. I have a very comfortable space and I am well equipped to offer creative interventions and a safe processing space  for whatever you would like to explore. Creative interventions are not everyone, but if it is something you would like to try, just let me know!

I have experience in a number of settings which include Derriford Occupational Health, working with children and women  who have been affected by domestic abuse, in a GP surgery setting.  I have worked with children, but mostly work with young people from the ages of 10+, as well as adults currently.

I also offer counselling for an NHS IAPT service as a high intensity of counsellor, so I am quite adept at the challenges of working in a short term way.  I also have clients who have been with me for the longer term, so whatever the duration you have for your clients, I will have a good understanding of some of difficulties that can arise.

Practice description

A little about my supervision model and how I work!

I use the 7 Eyed Model of supervision (Hawkins & Shohet 1985) which consists of focusing on the client, supervisee and supervisor, it is a relational model and its main focus is the process of the relationship. Let me know if you would like to know more about this model.

As well as the model I use, I do reflect and incorporate the BACP ethical framework and this is an integral part of the supervision I offer.

Whatever your stage of your career, I can help you process and look towards 'best practice' in your counselling.

I believe it is important to be able to reflect and learn without judgement, in a nurturing and professional environment.

I believe it is not just about the clients you may be finding challenging, but the clients that you may have done some really fantastic work with. Relationship is important to me, not just with clients but with my supervisees, so as well as being very passionate about my work, I am also a relaxed and cheerful person, I have a good sense of humour and this comes as part of the package of supervision.

I have a really lovely comfortable room and water/tea/coffee is available should need it. The room itself is quiet, bright and comfortable.

If stairs are a problem, please do let me know as I do have a room available with no stairs involved. This room is subject to availability but is usually workable.

If you would like to work online, then we can discuss your requirements and which online platform we will be using.

My first session

I offer a  free telephone consultation in order for you to ask me any questions and to see if we are best suited to each other.  You can contact me via email or text, I am happy to do both.

If you are a trainee counsellor, we can discuss concessionary rates as well when we first speak. Also, if you need any reports completing for your training, I do not charge for these, but do require some notice in order to get it back to you.

I like to work creatively, so if this is something you would like to explore, I would be happy to discuss this with you.  Its a little more tricky to work creatively, but not completely out of the question!

If we decide that we would like to work together, I will send you a confirmation email, directions if we are working face to face and details regarding payment.

If we are working online together, then I will also confirm our session, send you the link (google meet), and details for payment of the session.
