About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced Supervisor I will support Counsellor’s in their client work by focusing upon and discussing their clients issues and concerns. A Supervisor will take a ‘helicopter’ view of the each client situation and provide fresh insights by being able to see the ‘full landscape’ and by zooming in on certain matters in more detail. The role of a Supervisor is to support their Counsellor’s to navigate through difficult client situations. The ‘golden rule’ when asked what one should take to supervision is ‘anything you feel worried about telling your Supervisor’, for instance a concern or worry about a boundary issue.
I have been practicing as a Supervisor since 2015 and am qualified to level 4 diploma level.

Counselling is an opportunity to talk over problems in depth with a qualified, experienced and independent person to enable you to view a different perspective on things.
Counselling is about reflecting back to the client that he or she is being heard and providing them an opportunity to hear themselves. Often, hearing one’s own thoughts and feelings in another person’s words adds clarity and allows you to regain your balance.
Counsellors offer support rather than advice, believing that people have it within themselves to discover ways of living that are more satisfying for them.
I practice as an ‘Integrative’ counsellor. My learning has been developed across a number of psychological theories (including Psycho-dynamic, Humanistic, CBT and Gestalt) and whilst I call on all of these theories in my work my leaning is more towards a humanistic approach in the belief that, given the right support and understanding, people are able to explore and find their own resources to cope with their difficulties. I also regard myself as ‘user centred’ - meaning that with each client a mutually agreed contract focused on the clients’ agenda is formed.
