About me and my therapy practice

I offer an integrative approach as a supervisor as this reflects my theoretical background and knowledge of Humanistic approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and third wave practices such as Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness. I work collaboratively with each individual supervisee exploring the client/supervisee relationship to help enhance the quality of their work together and to aid the supervisee’s continuous professional and personal development. I also work as a part-time lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Salford.

About me and my therapy practice
I have had a private practice based in the centre of Wigan since 2010. I work therapeutically with adults , couples, groups and young people looking at a range of personal and psychological issues. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with a background in Person-Centred Counselling and Compassion Focused Therapy. I offer a warm, safe, non-judgmental environment working closely with each individual to find a unique way of working to help you build up your own therapeutic toolbox. Over the years I have worked within NHS, Lancashire Mind, Occupational Health, local secondary schools and as a lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Salford.
I have an integrative approach to therapy, as this not only reflects my theoretical background and knowledge, but also my personality. I believe the therapeutic process is a joint venture, working together to build a relationship based on respect, support and compassion. Having the knowledge and understanding of different therapeutic models gives me the opportunity to draw on any ideas and insights that I believe will be helpful for you.
I work both face to face (including outdoor ecotherapy) and online with clients, therapeutic groups and supervisees. I also offer bespoke training and workshops to a range of professionals throughout the Northwest. Referrals to my private practice come through as self-referrals, G.P referrals, Healthcare Organisations, Psychology Services, Insurance companies and Solicitors.
Practice description
My practice is a ground floor office in the centre of Wigan. There is ample street parking, as well as easy walking distance to both the train and bus station (5/10mins).
My first session
I always offer a free 20min introductory session to see if I'm the right person to help.
The first therapeutic session is an opportunity for us to get a sense of who you are and what you need from the counselling process. Together we will look at what has brought you to therapy and identify any personal and psychological issues you would like to work on as well as putting any therapeutic goals into place.
