About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Sonja, and I’m so glad you’re considering working with me as your clinical supervisor. I work with both students (at a concessionary rate) and experienced practitioners, and together we’ll explore the areas that matter most to you. My aim is to help you feel confident and supported, and to give you the space to reflect on your work, improve your skills, and feel heard.
I’m a qualified supervisor with an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision, including Online and Telephone Working. My approach is centred around you—whether you're just starting out in your career or you've been practising for years, I’m here to support you in whatever stage you’re at.
Having trained in the IDM (Integrated Developmental Model) and the 7-eyed model, I use these frameworks to make sure our sessions are tailored to your personal and professional growth. My supervision style is all about creating a relaxed, open space where we can chat freely, reflect on your practice, and discuss any challenges you’re facing.
Practice description
Supervision with me is flexible and focused on what you need. I offer both in-person and online sessions, so you can choose what works best for you. Whether you’re looking for guidance on a tricky case or simply want a space to reflect on your practice, I’m here to listen, offer feedback, and work with you to help you feel more confident.
I use the IDM and 7-eyed models to guide our sessions. These models help us explore all aspects of your work—how you connect with your clients, what’s going on for you personally, and how we can approach any difficulties you’re facing. It’s a way of looking at your practice from different angles and ensuring that you receive the support and insights you need.
For online supervision, I use secure platforms like Zoom, MS Teams, or Google Meet. This gives you the flexibility to join sessions from the comfort of your own space, while still maintaining confidentiality and a relaxed environment.
My first session
When we have our first session, it’s all about getting to know each other and making sure we’re a good fit. I’ll ask about your practice, what’s going well, and where you might need some extra support. We’ll talk about what you’d like to get out of supervision and how we can work together to make sure you feel supported in the best way possible.
We’ll also discuss how we can use the IDM and 7-eyed models to guide our work, and what areas you’d like to focus on going forward. It’s your time, so you’ll have the space to talk about anything that’s on your mind, and we’ll work together to create a plan that suits you.
By the end of our first session, you’ll have a good idea of what to expect, and hopefully, feel excited about the next steps in your professional journey.

About me and my therapy practice
Growing up in a large, multicultural family with roots in Northern Ireland and Trinidad & Tobago, and enriched by travel, I’ve learned to appreciate the value of each person’s unique perspective. These experiences have shaped how I see the world and how I work with people—valuing diversity and listening with care and respect.
At my practice, Libera Mentis, which means "Free Mind," my goal is to help you clear mental and emotional weight that may be holding you back. Life can feel difficult when you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, grief, or relationship issues, but there’s always hope. Working with me, you’ll have a space to share what’s on your mind freely, without feeling held back, and work through things at your own pace.
As an integrative therapist, I use different tools to suit your needs. Rather than sticking to one way of working, Our time together will focus on what feels most helpful to you, allowing us to work through things in a way that suits your needs. This way, the process becomes more personal and focused on what will help you most. Whether you need support with understanding your past, managing your current feelings, or finding new ways to cope, I’m here to guide you.
Practice description
With online sessions, accessing support is easy and convenient, no matter where you are in the world. You’ll be encouraged to choose your own private, comfortable place to talk about the things that are weighing on you. Secure video platforms such as Zoom, MS Teams, or Google Meet for online counselling, allows you to have counselling from that comfort.
Talking from your own space can make you feel more at ease and open, leading to a more relaxed and genuine conversation. Your privacy is important, and I ensure a confidential and supportive environment for everyone.
Together, we’ll explore what’s been troubling you, and I’ll help you find practical ways to move forward. You’ll feel heard, understood, and supported as we work through what’s on your mind, building the confidence and clarity to feel better and find a way forward that works for you."
My first session
The first session is a chance for us to meet and start to get to know each other. It’s an opportunity for you to share what’s brought you to counselling, as well as some background information—such as your work, education, and relationships—so that I can understand where you're coming from.
Together, we’ll talk about what you hope to get from therapy, so you can feel confident about what to expect. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. It's important that you feel clear and comfortable with the way we’ll work together.
During this session, we may go over a couple of simple assessments to get an understanding of your mental well-being and ensure that you’re supported in the best way possible. These assessments will be revisited from time to time, allowing us to see how things are progressing and if any changes need to be made.
The first session is all about making sure that you feel safe, heard, and that you have a good understanding of what comes next. My aim is for you to leave feeling more confident and at ease with the process.
