About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychodynamic counsellor, trainer and supervisor.
I have supervised counsellors from different modalities both one to one and as a group supervisor.
I have worked at the Tom Allan Centre, for several years, as a counsellor as well as in private practice and EAP work.
I have worked in education, curriculum design and leadership. In the world of counselling I have lead cohorts of students for the COSCA counselling skills certificate course for GCU. I currently work as a trainer on the diploma course at the Garnethill Centre.
My approach as a supervisor explores the counsellor's whole experience with clients. Our own emotional reaction to clients is information that, when valued and explored with curiosity can lead to deeper understanding of clients' processes. My fee for supervision is £60 for an hour and £80 for a 1.5 hours session. An initial consultation session for supervision is free and lasts around 20 minutes.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm Jen, a psychodynamic counsellor.
You may be feeling stuck or that things are running fast out of control. Other manifestations of discomfort can be much more nuanced - a sense of something that needs to be addressed but you can't quite pin it down.
I can be with you while you look into some uncomfortable areas. You don't know me yet and coming to counselling for the first time can be very daunting. The relationship between client and counsellor grows with time and can be where you experiment with ways of being that you've not dared to in the rest of your life.
Psychodynamic counselling looks at patterns in your life, sometimes it might feel as if someone else is driving your life.
Through the growing relationship that we will have you can look at what is driving you or holding you back. This work can be difficult.... and also very enriching.
A few details about me - I work privately at my counselling room in the Charing Cross / Finnieston area of Glasgow.
I also work as
- an affiliate counsellor for AXA delivering EAP
- at the Tom Allan Centre as a supervisor and counsellor
- as a trainer on the diploma course at the Garnethill Centre.
- I am an accredited counsellor with COSCA.
Practice description
Content of the sessions will be lead by you.
I will be looking for patterns and themes in anything you bring. These can be found in our behaviour, relationships and even in what might be seemingly mundane details of life.
It may feel hard to know where to start. Any place is good and we'll take it from there, together.
My first session
In a first session I will contract with you, setting out details of confidentiality, logistics and what are your hopes from sessions.
I will ask about your world and your experience of it. This will include present relationships and environment. I will also explore your past to have a snap shot of how to arrived to where you are now.
