About me and my therapy practice

I offer individual (online or ‘in person’) supervision to qualified and trainee Play Therapists or qualified Child Therapists from other Humanistic or Integrative modalities.  I typically integrate a developmental approach to supervision, utilizing more of a teaching and coaching role with novice supervisees and more of a consultation role with more experienced therapists.  Regardless of where a supervisee is within their career, my primary role is to improve their skills and competence, providing professional guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary resilience to enjoy their work, and to ensure clients receive optimum care. Within Clinical Supervision, I employ a range of supervision strategies and techniques which are adapted to match the learning style and individual goals of each supervisee.

If you are interested in discussing supervision further, please email me to arrange a meeting at amanda@kernowplaytherapy.co.uk

Practice description

I am member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) as well as a British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) Approved Play Therapist and Clinical Supervisor©.

I completed my MSc Play Therapy in 2015, following on from 12 years of experience as a primary school teacher. Since qualifying I have built up a wealth of experience in working to support children who have experienced trauma and abuse, working systemically with carers, parents and professionals. In addition to my private practice, I am currently employed by the Cornish charity CLEAR for one day per week as a Counselling Consultant. I have previously been employed by the charity Barnardo’s, as well as Cornwall Council’s Jigsaw Post-Abuse Team.  As a result, I have specialist knowledge in working with adoptive families and children who have experienced historic sexual abuse.  I am also a validated coder in the Child Attachment and Play Assessment (CAPA) and have an in-depth understanding of Attachment.

I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision. I offer individual (online or ‘in person’) supervision to qualified and trainee Play Therapists or qualified child therapists.
