About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel that past events and other people have a negative impact on your emotions? Are they holding you back? Have you tried to change, but find you can’t on your own? Has a health care professional given you a diagnosis, or have you tried to diagnose yourself? Has all this left you asking questions? I’ve answered ‘yes’ to all these questions myself. Therefore, I know there is always hope. If you want to make changes in your life, I can help you – and show you. This can give you a new outlook on life - more self-awareness and the ability to handle your emotions in a happier, healthier way. I am a trauma informed EMDR Pychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor who is fully qualified, insured and DBS checked.
Practice description
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) aims to help you understand the relationship between your feelings, thoughts and behaviours which are all connected. By helping you change one of these, we can change the others.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) helps you process and recover from past experiences, PTSD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, panic attacks, relationship issues, bereavement and low self-esteem that are affecting your mental health and wellbeing.
It involves using side to side eye movements or tapping, combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format.
EMDR helps you process the negative images, emotions, beliefs and body sensations associated with memories that seem to be stuck. EMDR therapy can help reduce unhelpful thoughts, yields fast results, requires minimal talking, increases self-esteem and helps you to see things from a different perspective and relieves the symptoms that you are suffering.
My aim is to help you in as few sessions as possible. Each individual is unique, this is your life, and you need to live it your way. But we all need help sometimes.
I have worked in a secondary school and currently work for a domestic abuse charity. My client's ages have ranged from 12-83 years old.
