About me and my therapy practice

I provide individual and group supervision to both trainee and qualified counsellors (currently ONLINE ONLY until January 2025).  I have been in private practise for over 11 years and additionally work as a university lecturer on counselling and communication skills. I also offer business coaching for those who are just setting up their counselling practise, and for seasoned counsellors who need some help improving or expanding their practise.

My approach is relational and I enjoy building a supportive working relationship with my supervisees.  I provide a safe space to work through challenges and share the joys of this work in an atmosphere of positivity and confidence-building.

As an experienced counsellor, it is very likely I have found myself in similar situations and quandaries as you have and I will gladly share my expertise with you.  I am here to make sure you are secure in your skills, using BACP's ethical guidelines at the core of my practise and keeping your individual needs in mind.

Practice description

In both the UK and Canada, I have worked with a variety of clients with issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief and loss, and chronic pain.  I enjoy helping supervisees as much as I enjoy helping clients.  My approach is integrative, including person-centred, CBT, solution-focused, psychodynamic, and art therapy techniques.

Group Work

Working in private practise can sometimes feel like an isolating experience, which is why meeting with a core group of therapists in group supervision can provide a great feeling of community.  This format is limited to a small number of practitioners, which allows more time per person to confidentially discuss case files, share knowledge, and discuss treatment options with fellow group members.

Business Coaching for Your Practise

Setting up your private practise can feel like an overwhelming task and I can appreciate the many factors involved, such as organising various forms and handouts for clients, finding an office space, practise insurance, marketing and networking.

Over the past 20 years, I have run several successful businesses, including a career in marketing and journalism. I am here to offer business coaching to set you up for success. This includes important elements such as writing compelling copy for your website, choosing pictures for your marketing materials, looking at website design options, and how to find your unique selling features.

“Portfolio” work is now becoming very common, and I will help you look at various sources of work within the field. Although some people find the idea of marketing oneself daunting, it can actually be fun. I'm here to show you some easy strategies and support you along the way.

Group rates are offered at a significant discount.
