About me and my therapy practice
In supervision, together we would explore the work undertaken in your practice, to promote your effectiveness, self care and learning.
At the core of our work together I aim to promote your unique way of being and offering to your clients, whilst also exploring what else can be beneficial to enhance your practice.
I privilege inclusive practice and awareness of unconscious bias using a developmental approach; and I find the Seven Eyed model very helpful to enhancing critical reflexivity.
I can work from trainee level (training levels 4-7) to senior practitioner level, with counselling practitioners working with young people and adults.
I am experienced in a range of modalities including attachment, humanistic, narrative and systemic approaches and I value the BACP ethical standards for the professionalism that they instil in our work with clients. I believe that supervision supports effective"dilemmability" and integration of a unique and coherent framework.
I have a trauma informed approach with extensive experience working with children, young people and adults in individual, couple, family and group therapy settings.
Practice description
I am a client centred therapist, and supervisor, with 20 years counselling experience, crafting a coherent integrative framework of theory and practice. I take what I have learned from my clients into the heart of my practice.
I am diligent in my personal and professional integration so that I sustain and celebrate being a counsellor in the challenging landscape of practice.
My experience includes offering supervision, for individuals and groups, for a range of mental health practitioners and counsellors. I have managed counselling projects and services in a variety of community contexts offering a rich experience of counselling approaches and situations.
I have been training counsellors since 2020 which offers me a rich perspective of supervision needs across a range of Placements and practioner training levels.
I currently have a private practice, and Lecture on foundation and post graduate level counselling courses, including the CPCAB TCSU Level 6 Supervision course. I also facilitate clinical psychology students' reflective practice sessions.
My supervision offering assists practitioners to gain an insider to outsider witness perspective of their work with clients finding opportunities for movement and growth.
I have an MA Soc. Science degree in Counselling Psychology, a BA Honours degree in Psychology and BA degree. In education I have a PGCE.
My first session
I offer a free consultation call of 20 minutes to offer an opportunity for us to assess if we can work together.
In our first session I would like to get to know you and your scope of practice.
I would be curious about your personal reasons for undertaking the work that you do and personal impact.
Equally I offer you an opportunity to ask me about my practice, qualifications, experience; aswell as my personal reasons for being a counsellor and supervisor.
I would be really keen to know what it is that you want from me as a supervisor and develop a working agreement around these expectations.

About me and my therapy practice
I work as an Integrative Counsellor, preferring Narrative Therapy, as I believe that we make sense of ourselves through the way that we describe our experiences through talking and creative therapy.
I hold a Master of Social Sciences in Counselling Psychology degree, counselling clients since 2003.
My counselling experience is diverse, and my practice comes from a solid foundation of experience and knowledge, whilst thriving through flexibility. As I love learning from my clients and hearing what works for them.
I have managed counselling teams in response to national disasters and the pandemic, bereavement service, hospice and high schools. I have experience supporting government employees, teachers, nurses and firefighters through vicarious trauma. I have seen a variety of clients of all ages, from diverse backgrounds and abilities. I have supported many clients through extremely difficult circumstances, major transitions, bereavement, sudden loss and trauma. I also teach counselling theory and practice in higher education.
At present, I work with adults, couples and family pairs that want to work on their relationship. I offer trainee counsellors reduced rates.
I can offer you a safe and confidential place to explore deep and meaningful issues. I employ reflective, creative methods, to support trust in yourself, perspective and well-being. I also offer practical approaches for acute stress and trauma responses based on my training and experience in working with clients that have experienced significant trauma and loss.
I am registered with the BACP, so my professional, counselling relationships are guided by the BACP Ethical Framework. I hold public liability insurance for face to face and remote working.
Practice description
Counselling offers a confidential, therapeutic relationship to bring about the change and personal growth that you choose. A process of change that you want for yourself, and with that the ripple effect may be felt in other areas of your life.
The therapeutic relationship usually offers you significant relief and well being. Sometimes, the life stories that we work with may feel unsettling and affect your usual way of being.
Through counselling you may realise that you want to change the way that you are, and some relationships with others. Initially, the realisation may be unsettling, so counselling gives you the space and time to process what feels right for you in a trusting, non judgemental relationship.
In a nutshell, it is important to know that counselling is not a quick fix that will remove discomfort immediately, but it can be a relief to find someone who understands what you are going through.
Sessions are currently offered remotely, via Zoom, once we have scheduled an appointment. An initial consultation call is recommended so that we can assess if I am the right counsellor for you.
My first session
I understand that for most people it is not easy to seek counselling, so I am very sensitive to how you may feel at our first meeting.
The first session is important to establishing a safe and professional way of working together. If this is the first time that you are speaking to a counsellor you may not know what to expect from counselling. I, therefore, tend to ask clients to commit 1 hour and 30 minutes to our first session, so that we can fully explore your reasons for seeking counselling, as well as the terms of our working relationship together.
I also recommend an initial consultation call of 15 minutes by telephone or Zoom which is scheduled by appointment.
