About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and thanks for visiting my profile.

" I hold the rich relationships and experiences gained through this work as a clinical supervisor as an important part of our process to enjoy together."  (Philippa Williams)

I am a qualified clinical supervisor with a doctoral training background in Counselling Psychology.  I am a registered member of the BACP; Graduate member of the BPS; Fellow and Clinical Supervisor of the ACCPH and Registered Senior Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor of LEAP Equine.

I hope to offer a broad base for us to explore how best to support your professional goals and clinical practice; whether you are a trainee, qualified, or seeking to explore innovative ways of improving how you work.

I have worked in long-term private practice internationally, as well as multi-disciplinary medical teams and the charity sector, incorporating complex individual and family case work including residential, court & government.   I supervise a broad range of practitioners and organisations world-wide, from in-training counsellors, transpersonal psychotherapists and clinical psychologists to equine facilitated & body psychotherapists & consultation for NHS & charity sectors & residential clinics.

I have a strong formulative approach, providing a platform for evidence-based practice.  Trainee's in particular find this aspect very useful for improving technique and gaining confidence for integrating theory into practice in varying clinical settings.  I use Hawkins and Shohet's Seven Eyed supervision model as a base for our sessions to encompass a structured, systemic, yet process-orientated approach.  In constrast, I additionally offer mindfulness, body psychotherapy, and phenomenological aspects to our work where useful.

I am the director of an accredited psychotherapy training institute, offering diplomas and post graduate training and supervision.  I love my work with practitioners & look forward to meeting you.

Practice description

My Client Practice:

In my own clinical practice, I specialise in working with young people and adults who have experienced trauma. This could be understood as complex trauma, complex PTSD, PTSD, ongoing or prolonged stressful/ traumatic or abusive events or a one-off event, along with DID, self-harm, suicidality, addiction and Borderline/ Emotionally Unstable Personality disorders. I am therefore adept at managing high risk cases. I also work with a broad range of presenting issues listed in-full below.  I also work in the field of TRE and EFP, offering a body mind perspective alongside traditional therapies.  I am a recognised international psychologist and author in the areas of equine, nature and canine assisted therapies.

Clinical Supervision Practice:

I hold, model and encompass a safe, structured and supportive environment with the importance and strength of our relationship being at the core of what we do.  This is essential for you to feel confident in bringing ethical dilemmas and safeguarding issues to sessions, as well as how you, yourself are brought into your client work, and the multi-dimensional aspects this might bring up.  For me, the supervision platform is as much about nurturing the parallel between personal and professional growth, as it is about internalising the 'ideal clinical supervisor' within your own work.

I am able to support you in a number of modalities and offer a warm, insightful, collaborative, and enjoyable platform for us to explore supervision work together.  I have a number of long-term relationships with supervisees over periods of years, demonstrating my ability to support and nurture growth and the supervisory relationship with both inexperienced and more experienced practitoners of many backgrounds.

As a published author and international consultant and education provider, I can support your goals and CPD in a number of areas, offering a broad range of possibilities for our supervision work together.

My first session

What to expect:

I offer a free 15 minute phone call to see whether we think we might be suited to working together.

In our first supervision session, we outline your goals and requirements for supervision, and if appropriate start to build a supervisory contract together.

This session is also used to explore your strengths, and areas you'd like to improve, and again, whether you and I feel I am the right supervisor to support you.

We may agree to focus solely on our work in a clinical or online setting, or we may feel that incorporating some equine assisted experiential sessions for times/ areas you feel stuck might be useful.

Following this session, if you are still unsure about whether I am the right supervisor for you, there is no obligation to commit to future sessions.

Future work together:

I am able to collaboratively tailor the clinical supervision to suit you and your work as an individual or organisation:

  • Flexibility for duration and frequency (in line with BACP guidelines)
  • In a comfortable, private room-based setting
  • Experiential equine facilitated supervision, including constellations, body-based awareness and mindfulness-based practice in a private facility
  • Experiential nature based supervision
