About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Relational Therapist & Training Supervisor with a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University & BPS Approved Certificate in Essential Clinical Supervision Skills. I am a passionate & inspirational practitioner with excellent communication & motivational skills. In January 2022 I was recognised by The Lancet for contributing to raising the profile of women in the public sphere of science & public health during the COVID19 pandemic.
Alongside my private therapy practice I teach trainee counsellors and psychotherapists so have extensive experience of supervising & supporting counsellors-in-training at both undergraduate & post-graduate level. It is my firm belief that people can gain genuine power & wellbeing from connection in healthy, respectful relationships. My practice philosophy is to provide an experience of relationship in which is it safe for supervisees to explore their practice without fear of judgement. I tailor the supervision experience with each supervisee to ensure it is as unique as they are.
I have a special interest in complex trauma resulting from adverse relational experiences & social inequality. I have a comprehensive understanding & experience of working with relational abuse & trauma, sub-optimal attachment, social exclusion, loss & bereavement, isolation, shame, anxiety, depression, oppression, prejudice, disempowerment, exploitation, & stigma.
I am a fervent advocate of counselling for improving wellbeing & also share that passion by campaigning for social justice & parity of esteem for mental health. I am actively involved in raising awareness of the mental health impacts of bereavement, loss & grief arising from the Covid-19 pandemic & have worked closely with the BACP in a campaign to ensure counselling & psychotherapy form a key part of the nation’s recovery plan.
Practice description
As a counselling tutor I have extensive experience in supervising and supporting trainee counsellors. I take a collaborative, relational approach aimed at raising autonomy and confidence in being self-evaluating.
Since you're already in counsellor training someone has decided you have what it takes to be a counsellor! As your supervisor it is my job to help you realise that potential, foster your self-belief and develop your internal supervisor. I offer a supportive environment to explore your counselling practice, coupled with healthy challenge focussed on raising self-awareness, integrity and accountability.
I am a highly ethical practitioner and will always keep both your and your clients' safety and wellbeing at the heart of our work together.
My therapeutic framework is primarily Person-Centred, integrating elements of self-with-other modalities such as Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis and Existentialism.
My first session
I offer a one-hour initial session at a reduced fee of £30. The purpose of that session is for you to decide if you would like to work with me and for me to assess if I have the right skills and experience to supervise you.

About me and my therapy practice
Life can feel overwhelming to us all at times. Talking about problems and feelings with someone you trust can really help but it's not always easy to talk to the people around us. Maybe you're worried that people will judge you or you might think they're part of the problem. It could be that you're struggling to express what's bothering you. You might not want to have to consider how what you're experiencing impacts the person you talk to about it. You may just feel like others wouldn't really listen, care enough or understand. Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, I aim to offer a safe space to talk without any of those barriers, to listen without judgement and to help you make sense of things to find a way forward.
I offer unlimited counselling and psychotherapy for a range of issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, relationship difficulties and trauma. I can also help if you're feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward.
I work with both men and women and am equally passionate about the experiences of women and in ending the stigma surrounding mental health issues for men. I strongly believe that reaching out for help when you're struggling shows great strength and have helped both male and female clients overcome limiting beliefs and traumatic experiences to achieve positive results.
I have a special interest in helping adults work through difficult and traumatic childhood and relationship experiences including:
parental separation and divorce,
abandonment and neglect,
volatile and violent family environment,
emotional, physical and sexual abuse.
social stigma and exclusion
loss and bereavement
I do not work with couples or Covid19 bereavement.
Practice description
I run my private therapy practice from a soundproofed office in a quiet business centre. I offer face to face counselling to clients who are fully vaccinated against Covid19, with some preventative measures in place such as socially distanced seating, HEPA filter and ventilation.
I also offer online counselling using Zoom which means I can work with you wherever you are located in the UK.
I am passionate about therapy and what it can do for people. As well as practicing as a therapist, I teach and supervise trainee counsellors. I am a champion for change in the field of mental health and my experience has led to my involvement in campaigning for social justice and parity of esteem for mental health in several high profile forums. My speaking engagements include:
The BACP Annual General Meeting 2020 (Keynote Speaker);
The Women's Equality Party Conference 2020;
The Good Grief Festival;
The All Party Parliamentary Group on Coronavirus;
The Primadonna Literary Festival.
