About me and my therapy practice

Having recently completed a Diploma in Clinical and Counselling Supervision my supervision practice is based around person-centred principles just as my counselling work is. I have been trained to use creative mediums which I may suggest if it will aid our supervision work. I also use other modalities within my counselling work which I will integrate into supervision.

I believe supervision is a collaborative process. I offer an initial phone or online chat so that we can meet and I can understand what my supervisees are looking for in their supervision and whether I can be a good fit for that. Supervision should offer a safe non-judgemental space to explore client work but also pay attention to the supervisee’s wellbeing.

I have been a therapist for over 6 years and in that time have worked predominantly with adults but also within secondary schools. I have worked with areas such as bereavement, survivors of abuse, individuals who have been in toxic or manipulative relationships be that romantic or family as well as anxiety, depression and general low mood. I run a successful private practice and therefore can offer insight into this aspect also.

I work face-to-face from my home-based counselling room in Newton Aycliffe or I can work online via Google Meet or Whereby. I welcome working with both qualified counsellors and trainee counsellors on placement.

About me and my therapy practice

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings? Perhaps you feel unsure of direction or feel you have lost who “you” are. Are you struggling to manage the roles you have in life or your relationships with partners, parents, children, or friends? Recent events may have emphasised these feelings and you may be looking to try and understand what is currently feeling upsetting, unsettling, or confusing. Counselling can help explore these things within a safe, confidential environment. I am privileged to be able to offer such a space to help you explore who you want to be, your relationships or the mixture of feelings around all of the above. Ultimately to help you feel more in control or your life.

I offer face to face and online counselling in a non-judgemental, confidential environment. Sessions give you the space to explore what might be causing disruption in your life and what is most pressing and important to you, how often can any of us say we do that? I believe each person if given the correct conditions, can gain greater self-awareness and insight into their situation. Becoming aware of both past and present issues can help you move forward with confidence towards the life you wish to live.

I have worked with both adults and children with a wide range of issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, work related stress, trauma, relationship difficulties and bereavement. I have particular experience with those who have experienced toxic relationships and toxic parenting. If there is something in your life that doesn't feel quite right, then why not get in touch.

Counselling really is the ultimate in self-care, if you had a niggle with your physical health, you wouldn't ignore it, so why not give your mental well-being the same importance and respect.

I am a Registered member of the BACP (British Association Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their Code of Ethics, I have an enhanced DBS check and am fully insured.

I work from my home address and have a cosy calm room I use for counselling.  In addition I also offer online sessions via Google Meet.
