About me and my therapy practice

I have been working as a Supervisor within Senior Leadership in Education for many years. However, I completed the CSTD (Centre for Supervision Training and Development) Supervisors Training in and been working as a Supervisor for 5 years.  I Supervise both Training Registered and Accredited Therapists. I Supervise (1-1 and in Groups) across the Mental Health Sector in Private Practice, Charities and NHS positions. In addition to this, I also have been in Special Education Leadership over a number of decades with Good and Outstanding Ofsted’s, both as a teacher and a Senior Leader. As such, I have been a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) a DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead). From this long history, I have a strong background in Children and Young People's Mental Health work and management. This has naturally supported my work as a Supervisor for Adults Mental Health, Trainees, Counsellors, Psychotherapists and also individuals working in The NHS and The Caring Professions for Children and Young People.

Practice description

My theoretical foundations combine Contemporary Attachment Theory, Intersubjectivity, Embodied Imagination and Neuroscience. I also use phenomenological approaches with a freedom and openness to spirituality.

In terms of my Supervision Practice I use Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet’s Supervision Model. This Seven-Eyed Model of supervision has a process-oriented approach which integrates the relational and systemic aspects of supervision. It focuses on the relationships between client, therapist and supervisor, and takes into consideration the interplay between each relationship and their context within the wider system. The model is called “seven eyed” because it addresses seven distinct aspects of the supervision process, as listed below:

Client Situation

Therapist Interventions

Client Therapist Relationship

Therapist Situation

Therapist Supervisor Relationship

Supervisor Situation

Wider Context

In addition, I also use Davys & Beddoe’s Model for Supervision, as it offers a further Reflective Learning Model. This process emphasises the importance of reflection for responsive practice. The ability to reflect however is dependent on the practitioner’s level of competence and experience. The skills and interventions I use with a student are different from those I use with experienced practitioner. This model is a supervisory approach that emphasises learning, knowledge development, accountability and transformation in practice (Davys & Beddoe, 2020). Reflective supervision moves beyond a task-focussed structure and stimulates collaboration, analysis and emotional regulation. There are 4 stages for exploration as follows:

Event

Exploration

Experimentation

Evaluation

I very much look forward to working with you.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully registered and UKCP accredited adult integrative psychotherapist and supervisor. I am registered with UKCP, BACP and CSTD. I have 15 years of experience working as an integrative psychotherapist and been working as a Supervisor for 5 years. I have developed a private practice within clear psychotherapeutic guidelines.

My therapeutic approach is based on your dynamic holistic needs. As such this may change as you change over time. This may include your perception and experience of your social, moral, spiritual and cultural background. My approach includes an openness to equality and anti-oppressive practice that accepts you as you are. In addition, I recognise and encourage your journeys in the unfolding of your human potential through therapy, education and beyond. I work to encourage the potential of you in developing yourself by becoming more self-aware, embodied, and connected with your core or true self. I respect your reality and ability to choose how to be and to act.

I work through a respectful and honourable relationship with you to meet and support you through your therapeutic journey. My theoretical foundations combine Contemporary Attachment Theory, Intersubjectivity, Embodied Imagination and Neuroscience. I also use phenomenological approaches with a freedom and openness to spirituality.

I am dedicated, committed, and carefully engaged in therapy that has you at the center of the work. I have experience and skill with trauma, especially bereavement and sudden death, and domestic and sexual violence. I also have much experience of a variety of mental health issues, including psychosis, disassociation, OCD, and phobic behaviours amongst many others, held within the safety of a strong, well-held ethical framework.

Regan has a private practice in Bradford on Avon, Bath and Bristol. I can be contacted on 07805147624 and emailed on reganstherapy@yahoo.co.uk or through my web pages.

In person, Online and/or telephone appointments are also available.

Practice description

Sessions are your confidential space, where you can bring how you are feeling, or what might feel unbearable in the context of your everyday life. They are your space to safely explore, in a non-judgmental way, what you might be thinking, what you are doing in your life, and how you might like to change.

At times this work may feel intangible, and we will work together to find the words to articulate feelings and emotions that don’t seem to have a clear voice. I will be working with you slowly to help you safely express yourself in ways that feel comfortable to you. I will explore with you bringing new awareness and clarity to issues that affect you and others in your life.

My first session

We will meet for a free initial online 30 minute session to see whether we both feel right about working together. We will then take a few days to think it through before we confirm our agreement to work together.

If we decide to proceed, we will meet and create a contract together, including what you would like to work through. We will then meet on a weekly basis, and schedule a six-week review, in which we can decide to make a further agreement to working together.

The duration of therapy is specific to you; we can take as long as you need to work through what you would like to.
