About me and my therapy practice

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and Supervisor.

I have a trusting attitude towards supervisees, this includes trusting supervisees to develop personally and professionally and trusting their experiences of clients and therapeutic relationships. I have the intention of providing a particular type of relationship that enables you to be fully engaged and present for clients. My aim is to develop a relationship with you in which you feel nurtured, stimulated, challenged and able to evaluate and make decisions about ethical issues as they arise within your practice.

I will work with you actively and collaboratively as you reflect on your experience of the challenges that you encounter in your practice, supporting you to increase your awareness and understanding of yourself and your work.

About me and my therapy practice

Unlike a maze with only path through, life has many possibilities and offers numerous paths. Sometimes we can feel stuck and I strongly believe that counselling can be enormously beneficial, restorative and empowering; aiding both awareness and understanding of our experiences. I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist providing a therapeutic service for individuals age 16+ experiencing a broad range of difficulties. I have worked alongside individuals experiencing a range of difficulties; perinatal mental health, loss and bereavement, stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, abuse and trauma.

Practice description

The person-centred approach emphasises the relationship between client and counsellor and so choosing the right therapist for yourself is a priority. One of the first steps towards achieving growth and wellbeing is to be truly open and honest with yourself. Therefore my counselling sessions will always take place within a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment. My role in supporting you on this journey is to bring warmth, compassion, support and a facilitative. It is my belief that every individual has the value, the potential and the inner resources they need to heal or foster growth. Counselling can offer the time and space to consider and explore options, choices and changes. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their ethical framework.

My first session

Your first session will be about why you are looking for therapy, what you hope to achieve and agreeing how we might work together. I will ask a number of questions to help you decide whether we will be comfortable working together and to check you can be offered the most appropriate support. If we both decide that therapy will be beneficial and you wish to continue then we will discuss and agree on how we will work together. This may include how many sessions, payments, what happens if you are unable to attend an appointment, cancellation policy, confidentiality, record keeping etc. I will provide a written agreement so that you can refer to it and refresh your memory. You have the right to ask me anything you want to know about my qualifications, experience and your therapy; I would encourage you to do this. Therapy is a very personal and often daunting process. Often it is necessary to talk about painful feelings or decisions which research has shown can cause a period of feeling worse. It can be difficult to continue but it is usually worth the effort and commitment as you are supported through. I offer both short-term and long-term counselling on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

What I can help with

Abuse, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
