About me and my therapy practice
I am a warm, friendly and down to earth person who is able to offer a safe and confidential supervision space where you will feel supported, encouraged and enabled. I strive to be the kind of supervisor who is without judgement and will be there for you, not only when things are going well, but when things are tough. Being a counsellor can be challenging; especially because our personal lives run alongside. My supervision sessions have both the client and my supervisee at the heart of the work we do together.
I had been a qualified counsellor for five years before deciding to embark on supervision training and am now in the process of applying for accreditation. Having originally trained in Person Centred Counselling I see myself as Integrative in practice. I have experience in working therapeutically with children 5 years through to adults in their 80s. I continue to work with clients and split my time equally between being a supervisor and a therapist in my own private practice.
In terms of supervision, I use the Seven Eyed Model. I offer a free initial telephone call if you have further questions or just want to find out whether I am right for you.
I normally charge £40 per hour for supervision (online) or £50 per hour for face to face (includes cost of room hire). I offer both evening and weekend supervision sessions. In addition, I will make time between formal supervision sessions, if you need additional support in your client work.
I have experience of working with both qualified and trainee counsellors.
Thank you for reading my profile. Warmest wishes for your journey ahead. Helen

About me and my therapy practice
Hi. Are you feeling anxious; some or most of the time? Do you know why you feel like this? Perhaps you feel constantly overwhelmed and exhausted and people around you just don't understand how debilitating it can be. I know from my own experience that suffering from anxiety can affect every part of your life. Reaching out to someone like me can be really hard to do.
I am a warm, friendly and down to earth person; who cares about the people I work with. I have a passion for helping clients who experience anxiety and I support them to uncover the reasons why they feel the way they do. Life is not easy but when we have anxiety it can be make things feel impossible.
When you are ready, I am here for you. In my sessions you will be able to talk freely, and I will really listen and understand what’s happening in your life. Together we will explore what is causing your anxiety, how to relieve your anxious feelings and thoughts and move to a place where we can acknowledge that anxiety is trying to make sure you are safe. You will be given a safe space to unravel your thoughts and feelings and to look at how you want things to be different. I believe that counselling is about putting you first. Although at times being in therapy can be emotional and upsetting it can also be light-hearted. Whatever happens in our sessions we will be in this together. Every client is unique and therefore sessions are planned around what you want and feel you need right now.
So why choose me? I have been a similar position to where you are now. I know what it is like to experience anxiety and be really unhappy. I also understand it can be hard to take the first step, but you are already there because you are reading my profile. Through my own life experiences/training and seven years of practice I help and support all my clients to be able to manage their anxiety and understand their needs. I am just a text message (or email) away from starting to make life feel easier for you.
Practice description
I have been a qualified counsellor for six years and some of the issues that I have worked with are: being in an abusive and/or unhappy relationship or leaving one, OCD, ADHD, being bullied at work, past trauma (including childhood trauma), family problems, bereavement, addictions and the menopause. Sometimes when clients first engage in counselling, they do not know why they feel anxious; that is okay as we will work it out together.
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor/Therapist having successfully gained a Foundation Degree in Person Centred Counselling in 2017; after five years training. I completed my Certificate of Proficiency in 2018 and have continued to gain experience accruing over 450 hours of one to one counselling with clients. I am integrative counsellor; which means I have trained in many different models of therapy, in addition to my main qualification, and because of this I am able to prioritise what my clients need.
My experience is primarily working with adults and young people (aged 14 plus) at all stages of their lives. My expertise and passion is helping and supporting others who struggle with anxiety and/or depression; I am able to facilitate my clients to improve their self esteem and confidence. I have found that once clients start therapeutic work they then start to understand and want to change what lies beneath some of their difficulties.
I have always wanted to make counselling affordable and therefore charge £45 per hour (50 - 60 minutes) for online counselling (Zoom, Face Time, Whats App or telephone). I am also able to offer clients reduced fees (online) if you are going to struggle to afford counselling (this is not means tested but what you tell me you can afford).
I charge £60 (for a 50 minute session) in person counselling session. I am able to book a room in Morpeth, Ashington and North Shields.
