About me and my therapy practice
I offer supervision to practising counsellors and psychotherapists of various theoretical orientations and levels of experience either in-person in central Manchester or online via video-call. My supervisory framework is psychodynamic in its foundation, integrated with both relational and embodied approaches.
Practice description
My supervisory style is supportive and challenging, following the principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy to get to the heart of what is happening between therapist and client. Alongised this, I incorporate the seven-eyed supervision model and work with the supervisee from both relational and embodied approaches to help us attend to the transferential and countertransferential processes brought up in the supervisee's work.

About me and my therapy practice
To offer an idea of what you could expect from the psychodynamic approach, I'd broadly describe its principles as follows:
there will be a focus on your emotional world and how feelings are expressed or avoided;
in time, we'd identify recurring themes and patterns in your life;
we would discuss past experience and think about how it relates to the present;
we'd get to know your relationships, of all kinds, including the therapy relationship itself, and;
because the causes of emotional distress are generally woven into the fabric of our lives we would explore the inner world of daydreams, dreams, images, imagination, sensations and intuitions.
Engaging in therapy, in the principles above, talking about whatever comes to mind if you feel free to say it, is a meaningful way to get to know your story, to help with the issues bringing you to therapy and to think about and find other, preferred ways of living.
If you would like to get in touch, we would meet for an initial consultation to discuss what has prompted you to find a therapist and to work out if psychodynamic therapy is the right approach for you.
If we both feel we can work together then we would find a space in the week when we could meet. Therapy works within boundaries. It is a commitment that benefits immensely from the stability and momentum that weekly sessions provide, creating a vital boundary for your emotional and psychological world.
The work tends to be longer-term and is usually open-ended, within a shared understanding of its purpose and what we are meeting to do and why.
