About me and my therapy practice

My approach within supervision is integrative and looks at the level of experience and development of the counsellor. I work to mould myself around the needs of the supervisee I am working with so that they are able to work openly and flexibly within the supervision. This enables the counsellor to ensure they maximise the use of the time we have and also feel comfortable to reveal all aspects of practice including the great, the good and the not so good without any judgement. I am quite pragmatic in my approach and have a passion for supervision and all it provides to the growth of the individual practising counselling.

Practice description

I am a BACP senior accredited counsellor and supervisor. I have completed the Cruse Bereavement Supervisors Course in 2008. I have also completed a diploma in counselling supervision (May 2013). I have over 12 years experience of offering individual supervision. I currently work as a senior supervisor in a NHS young people trailblazer project where I supervise a team of EMHP Supervisors. I work in an integrative way with those I work with looking at the multiple facets and uses for supervision as a means to develop, reflect on client practice and much more. My areas of expertise are working with bereavement, domestic abuse, south Asian community, mental health and complex issues (this is not an exhaustive list). I have worked as a supervisor in various contexts such as a local hospice, GP surgery counselling service, young people's service, cancer counselling services and mental health services. I have been in leadership roles in counselling services for generic counselling services, women only counselling service, cancer related counselling and young people's counselling services. Critical Incident Stress Debriefer (2019) Mental Health First Aider (2019) Certificate in Youth Counselling (2016) Diploma in Counselling Children & Adolescents (2015) Diploma in Drug & Alcohol Counselling (2013) Diploma in Counselling Supervision (2013) OCN Level 3 in Life Coaching (2012) SNHS Diploma in Psychotherapy & Counselling (2008) MA Integrative Counselling Practice (2007) OCN Certificate in loss and bereavement counselling (2006) BSc (Hons) Psychology & Sociology (2003) AQA Certificate in counselling skills in loss and grief (2003) NCFE Certificate in Counselling (2001) NCFE in Basic Counselling (2001)
