About me and my therapy practice

I'm an experienced BACP accredited counsellor. I am a qualified supervisor, with a diploma in Relational Supervision.

My supervision practice is relational. I offer a safe, warm and non-judgemental space for you to bring yourself and your client work. I invite you to bring both the challenges and successes of your work, and I will support you to develop your growth as a practitioner. Working together, I will be mindful of, and explore with you, your wellbeing and self-care. I  am also happy to support you around the practical aspects of working in private practice and/or within organisations.

Practice description

I work from  comfortable therapy room in my home. This is a ground floor room. There is driveway parking. I am also happy to work over zoom.

My first session

An initial session will give you a sense of how I work, and the style of supervision you can expect. Alongside practical issues such as frequency/payment/online or in person meetings, we will explore what you need in supervision, and how we can best work together.

I am integratively trained and would be best suited to supporting counsellors who work in a relational, person-centred way. I am a trauma-informed practitioner with a wide experience working in statutory, and voluntary sectors, alongside maintaining a busy private practice. I welcome supervisees who work in frontline services in charities and in the health sector.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am a qualified and experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor based in north Bristol. I provide long and short term counselling according to your need. I work with a wide range of issues, and specialise in working in the areas of bereavement and loss, supporting carers, and trauma and abuse.

My aim is to provide a safe and confidential space where you can explore your feelings.

I work in a relational and person-centred way. I will listen to understand how you see things, taking into account your experiences. I am warm, empathetic and non-judgemental.

Counselling can help you to understand why you feel the way you do, and support you to find a way forward. I won't tell you what to do, or give advice, but rather we will work together to help you find a view of yourself and your situation which feels more positive.

I understand that talking about difficult experiences and feelings can be hard, so we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. The counselling relationship is different from other relationships in that it is confined to the times of sessions and the focus is on you, so I won't talk about myself to detract from that.

Whilst we will regularly reflect on how you are finding the experience of counselling, I usually suggest a review after 6 weeks. This is a chance to check if you are finding the support helpful. Some people prefer short-term counselling to work on a specific issue, whilst others find it helpful to have counselling over a longer period.

My first session

The first session is a chance for you to ask any questions and for us to see how we can work together. I will also go through a contract – which covers practical things like confidentiality, fees and cancellations. It may be that after this session you want some time to think about whether or not to proceed. This is absolutely fine. It is important that you feel comfortable.
