About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor based in North London. In addition I deliver training on mental health, Intercultural therapy and vicarious trauma. I have many years experience offering therapy to survivors of trauma, domestic violence, loss, anxiety, stress, family and relationship issues. I have worked with people from different cultures and I understand the impact of family values and cultural norms on emotional and psychological well-being. I hold a Masters Degree in Refugee Care which applies a psycho social model to respond to the holistic needs of the client. As an integrative therapist, I work with different modalities including Person centered, Narrative therapy, CBT and mindfulness. We may also use creative arts to help interpretation and make meaning. one size does not fit all and having a variety of tools to draw from means we can work together to discover what works best for you. My work as a therapist is to offer you a safe, non-judgmental and nurturing space where you can explore the different aspects of your day to day survival. This can include, friends, family and peers and the roles they have in your life. It is a space to safely express your thoughts, emotions and concerns, explore different perspective and gain deeper insight, together we could find useful copying skills so life situations can become more manageable and create new possibilities where goals and aspirations might be more achievable.

Practice description

Often life can feel like an uphill struggle fuelled by overwhelming anxiety and stress. You may have adapted an auto-pilot function just to cope on a day to day basis. Exhaustion can trigger feelings of self-doubt and hopelessness in professional or personal life or both. There is value in approaching our challenges with humility and self compassion while also identifying our strengths and resilience which we may have developed in order to cope. I am aware of how early childhood experiences may have an influence on current life, hence we might explore your past, your present and future goals to identify where unhelpful responses or behaviours might be noticed, adapted or eliminated. Am aware that we all carry issues and differences that impact upon us over the course of our lives and I feel well suited to working with others who have experienced this in their own unique way. As an integrative therapist I use a variety of methods to draw on which means we can work together to discover what works best for you. However we work, I will prioritise you, your needs and your goals with the respect, empathy and the open mind that you are deserving of and entitled to.

My first session

It takes courage to ask someone else to help us understand and make sense of what is going on in our lives and the decision to seek counselling is a difficult one; to share thoughts and personal history with a stranger may feel scary and unsettling. I commend you for reaching out to reclaim your wellbeing Our first session comes with no obligation to continue. Its an opportunity for me to tell you more about how I work and also hear more about your expectations from our therapeutic relationship. You may also ask me questions you may need clarity. I am bound by BACP ethical framework which includes confidentiality and professional boundaries designed to keep us both safe in the therapeutic relationship. I would like to be your companion in this journey as you explore, navigate and identify unhelpful thoughts and feelings as well as gain useful insight towards your growth and potential.
