About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, confidential listening space within which you can explore your thoughts and concerns without judgement. I believe that within a nurturing, supportive therapeutic relationship you can build on your own strengths and resilience in order to find more effective ways of coping with adversity and develop greater self awareness.
As we work together at your pace I aim to work sensitively and collaboratively with you to develop a trusting, therapeutic relationship, and to provide the privacy and space to fully explore your thoughts and experiences. From this exploration of your concerns real self knowledge can emerge, which can free and empower you to live in a more fulfilling and self-directed way.
My approach is integrative as I use core ideas from person-centred theory in its emphasis on the importance of the therapeutic relationship and of encouraging self direction. I also use ideas from attachment theory to consider how early relationships and experiences continue to affect our sense of ourself in the world and in relation to others.
I have over ten years experience of working as a counsellor for an agency specialising in sexualised trauma and domestic abuse and have considerable training in working with a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach.
By working with you to understand yourself and your life more clearly, I aim to work with you to support positive change and personal growth, and finding more effective ways of coping with adversity.
I am experienced in working with clients with autism and ADHD and work with the client to make necessary adaptations. I work in solidarity with LGBT+ communities.
