About me and my therapy practice
I provide supervision in a safe, supportive and professional environment in which client work, exploration of ethical issues and professional development forms the structure of the Supervisory relationship.
I have extensive managerial experience within large organisations, both in the private sector and within the NHS. I welcome enquiries for Supervision from both individuals and small groups within organisational and healthcare settings.
I believe that supervision should provide the core values of respect, honesty, compassion and collaboration, as provided for clients, enabling reflection of therapy work and exploration of process.
Developing, through a relational approach, an open, creative and explorative supervision relationship is vital to support discussion of practice related difficulties and issues. Space to reflect upon client work and role is important to enable growth and development in practice with appropriate feedback and discussion through supervision.
As working with my own clients, working with Supervisees in supervision as the ‘whole person’ is important to me; to be able to explore and support your awareness of issues which may arise which impact on your work as a therapist.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm a registered and accredited psychotherapist and counsellor working in private practice with individuals. I have worked in a variety of settings over the last 17 years, both within private practice, Occupational health settings and the NHS.
I work with those experiencing a broad range of emotional issues and life challenges; perhaps feeling disconnected or overwhelmed with life. This may cause anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, physical health issues or stress. Difficulties may be around work related stress or burnout.
I have a particular interest in issues which arise in the workplace, particularly work related stress and, additionally bereavement, but I am very interested in all aspects of life and offer a compassionate and empathic space in which you are able to reflect on and explore issues which are causing difficulty for you; perhaps affecting your daily life. I will work with you to support and consider possible solutions that can help you to move forwards, and better understand how you feel and why.
Understanding ourselves develops confidence and a greater ability to make sense of our own world and the decisions that we make.
Practice description
I am able to offer sessions online via Zoom, in-person or by telephone.
We can discuss the contact method that is most convenient for you.
My first session
Please make first contact with me by email or telephone and we can arrange a short telephone call as an introduction, and to discuss why you wish to access counselling.
Email: sheilaallentherapy@gmail.com
We can agree your preferred contact method and arrange a first appointment where you will be able to tell me more about yourself and the issues which you are facing, to enable me to better understand you and your situation. We will be able to discuss what you feel you would like to gain from therapy.
You may decide from this to take time to consider whether you wish to continue with counselling, or you may wish to make a further appointment immediately. If I feel that you would be better supported by a different kind of therapy and a different therapist, we will be able to discuss this to ensure that the support you receive is the most appropriate to support your needs.
Individuals can make contact for themselves, or be referred by GP's, Employers, Employee Assistance Programmes or Occupational Health settings.
