About me and my therapy practice

I am Accredited BACP Counsellor,  UKCP Integrative Psychotherapist and UKCP Registered Supervisor.

I believe that the Supervisory relationship is a key component for a therapist's quality and safety of practice.    As a supervisor I feel that I act as a gate-keeper for ethical and professional standards. And as a supervisor in relationship with the supervisee, I provide a safe base to return to after being at the 'coal-face' with clients whether this is to discuss difficulties and challenges or celebrate 'successes' with clients.

As a Relational-Developmental Integrative Psychotherapist I incorporate aspects of Gestalt therapy, hold the Person-Centred Core Conditions, and have a particular emphasis on the Developmental deficits and attachment styles which originate in childhood and affect the adult's relationships.  I can help with understanding transferential issues and parallel process.  I work with the supervisee's personal process in relation to the client, and with me when required.

I am supportive of your work and your uniqueness and creativity as a therapist and can provide sensitive challenge and hold clear boundaries for the work.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an Accredited BACP Counsellor and UKCP Integrative Psychotherapist, and Supervisor.

I work within BACP and UKCP ethical guidelines, offering a professional, confidential and approachable  service from my Therapy room in Watton near Driffield and Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire.  I also work online when needed.

I have many years' experience working with people from all walks of life and with many of life's difficulties. As well as in Private Practice, I work with EAP for companies and large organisations and previously in the NHS IAPT service.

I work Short, Medium and Long Term for issues including: Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement and other losses, Abuse of all kinds, Childhood Trauma and issues from Childhood family, Relationship Issues, Spirituality, and personal development.

I am committed to my own personal and professional development, undertaking regular continued professional development courses and therapy.  Like all ethical therapists, I have the support of a Clinical Supervisor.  These things ensure that I can provide the very best service and experience of therapy for you.

If this is your first Counselling/Psychotherapy experience, it can be natural to feel a little anxious about contacting a Therapist. You will find me friendly and approachable, and able to provide a safe, boundaried space to explore your personal thoughts and feelings in a respectful, non-judgemental and insightful which provides a reparative experience for you.

So call now to make an appointment.   I will endeavour to answer any questions/concerns you may have.  I look forward to hearing from you.

I also offer Clinical Supervision for Counsellors &Psychotherapists and trainees.

My first session

You are welcome to come for a first session to get a feel for how I work and then decide whether to continue.  This is a chance for us to begin to get to know each other, and to do some therapeutic work.  The therapy begins here.   I can get an idea of what you would like to achieve from coming and the reasons which brought you to therapy.   I would like that you go from your first session feeling heard, validated and finding hope in your situation.
