About me and my therapy practice

I offer one-to-one and group supervision to counsellors, therapists and trainees either online or in person.

I work in an integrative way allowing supervisees with a variety of theoretical orientations to think about their client work and consider their professional development.

Practice description

I wholeheartedly believe that successful supervision is largely down to the quality of the supervisory relationship. It is therefore important to me that I provide the conditions for a collaborative relationship where there is room to focus on specifics as well as for material to emerge. It is my intention to offer an open and flexible space where curiosity and creativity is encouraged, and humour is welcomed.

My supervision practice is informed by the Integrated Developmental Model of Supervision alongside the 7 eyed model to help focus the work.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello I’m Helen, an established psychotherapist with experience in both the NHS and private practice.  I aim to help my clients make positive changes to the way they currently feel or behave.

I offer 50 minute sessions either online (Zoom) or in person.

Whatever you are experiencing, there's no need to go through it alone.  I can help you if you’re struggling with something difficult in your life by providing:

  • A space to talk through troubling issues
  • Help recognising how your past experiences impact your life today which may be resulting in feelings of emptiness, lack of meaning, relationship issues, anxiety or depression
  • A place of safety in which to explore and process traumatic events
  • Guidance on personal development, helping you to build self-awareness and enable more choice

It may be that you are unable to change the situation you are in, but I whole-heartedly believe there is hope.  Personal experience tells me that therapy can help you to change the way you feel about it, leading to a more self-accepting and meaningful way of living.

Practice description

I am committed to providing you with a confidential and supportive space; a place where you can explore the issues behind unwanted feelings or unhelpful behaviours.

My role is to actively help you draw on your inner resources so that you can find a way through your problems with the aim of living your life more fully.  Sometimes just having the space to talk and to really be heard and understood will be enough to help lead you towards clarity, other times we might need to delve a little deeper.

My intent always, is to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, warmth and acceptance.  My theoretical approach is integrative and I draw from different psychological theories dependent upon the needs of my client - one size does not fit all.

I have experience helping people with different issues including, but not limited to:

Anxiety

Depression

Relationship issues

Stress

Personal Development

Bereavement and loss

Trauma

Redundancy and work-related issues

Issues from Childhood

Life stages

Major life changes

Unhelpful behavioural patterns

How long will you need to come for

We can work together on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period.  The number of sessions is dependent upon your needs and always remains your decision.

Appointments are on a weekly basis, usually at the same time and on the same day each week, however I can usually offer some flexibility to accommodate changing work patterns.

My first session

We meet either at my practice in Leatherhead, or online where we can talk about what you want help with.  I will answer any questions you may have about the counselling process and our work together. During this first session you will be able to get a sense of whether we are a good fit for each other and decide if you would like to continue from there.

I am very happy to have a quick chat with you on the phone beforehand if this feels like a more comfortable first step.

Please either email, text or call and I will come back to you as soon as I can.
