About me and my therapy practice

I have many years’ counselling experience working in the NHS, higher education and workplace settings.

I hold a Master’s degree from the University of London in Psychodynamic Counselling and I have over 20 years’ experience of working with individuals and couples.  I am a recognised practitioner with BUPA and other health insurers.

I use both psychodynamic and solution-focussed  counselling models, to help clients understand how problems developed and then to enable a positive outcome for their difficulties.  Counselling offers a safe and confidential space to speak freely about your situation, understand your problems better, and how to move forward.

Practice description

As a counsellor I work with your life story. We all have our own unique story and we continue to write it all through life. At the moment you’ve hit a problem or obstacle in your story, and talking to friends and family isn’t helping. You’ve made that brave initial decision to seek counselling.  Whether the problems are to do with your work or your personal life, it can be interesting and even exciting as we unpack those thoughts and find new ways of thinking.  Sharing things with someone who is not involved, helps you see and understand the difficulties you are facing.    You might also see how relationships from the past are playing out in the present.

 How did your problem arise?

Who or what contributed to it?

What factors would improve it, what was it like when things used to feel better?

I see clients in-person in my dedicated counselling room, and also by video or telephone.

My first session

In your first session, we will explore the reasons for seeking counselling,  a little about your current life and, most importantly, what you want to be different in your life  from counselling.

It is an opportunity to see if you want to work with me, and for me to assess if I can be of help to you.
