About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist with over 20 years experience.  I  became a qualitied BACP registered supervisor in 2007, when I obtained a Post Graduate Certificate (with Distinction) in Clinical Supervision (Group and Individual) from the University of Southampton.

My model of supervision is integrative, based on the study of the many models and functions of supervision which together form the Integrative approach. This offered me authenticity as it is reflective of my core therapy training.  I am also a GHC-approved hypnotherapy supervisor.

I offer individual and group supervision of either 1, 1.5 or 2-hours duration.  I work with both experienced and student counsellors, hypnotherapists and, because of the generic nature of my qualification, practitioners from other professions such as Occupational Health etc.  My approach to supervision offers flexibility, enabling me to meet the varying needs and requirements of trainee counsellors as well as qualified, experienced practitioners.

I believe in the value of a strong and containing therapeutic relationship to help facilitate the processing of the sometimes difficult feelings and reactions that may occur in client work.   I offer telephone or video sessions (using a highly encrypted telemedicine platform for which you do not need an account and which is easy to use). If you prefer, I can offer Zoom, Skype or FaceTime sessions, although these are not as secure. I have undertaken over 100 hours of additional training to deliver therapy and supervision remotely, mapped to the BACP's own competency framework for remote working.  I am a member of ACTO.

Please note: I only offer telephone or video supervision.

Practice description

I am located in Horsell, near Woking and I run my private practice from a peaceful, dedicated therapy room. I will work collaboratively with you and offer you a safe and containing space in which to process your client work and in which challenge,  reflection and growth can take place. For those supervisees who are members of the BACP, BSCH or GHC I expect you to be familiar with the ethical framework of these organisations and to be informed by this in your client work.

My first session

Before making a commitment, I invite you to book an initial 20-minute consultation, which is free of charge and without obligation, during which I will carry out a brief assessment of your current experience and explore how we might work together.  I will explain what to expect from supervision and the importance of a strong, supportive supervisory relationship, which facilitates the exploration of difficult feelings and issues that can arise in your client work.  If we decide to work together I will devote part of the first session to the setting up of the Supervision Contract, introducing you to the related paperwork for the presentation of your cases and answering any questions you may have.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome to my profile page.  Congratulations on taking this first important step.

I am a BACP Senior Accredited/Registered integrative counsellor/psychotherapist with over 20 years experience.  I am an EMDR clinician, a BSCH registered hypnotherapist and a qualified supervisor. I see adults, young people (12+), student counsellors and couples. I work with a very wide range of presenting issues and have many specialist areas. As an EMDR clinician I work with all types of trauma. As a hypnotherapist, I work with a wide range of issues and am a CSSRT Registered Smoking Cessation specialist.

My integrative background enables me to devise an approach to suit your individual needs as a unique human being. I will offer you a safe and accepting environment, free from criticism or judgement and I strongly believe in the value of a trusting therapeutic relationship

I have worked with clients since 2001 and have run my successful private practice since 2004. I offer long, short-term and brief solution-focused work. I am aware of the current economic pressures on people and have strived to keep my fees at a reasonable level.  They are based on a sliding scale depending on the type of therapy you have.

My training spanned seven years and included all the major psychological approaches. I have a Masters Degree (MBA) which includes workplace psychology, a PGC in clinical supervision, BA(Hons) in Counselling, Advanced Diploma in Counselling, Certificate in Counselling, a Post Qualifying Cert in CBT, EMDR Clinician's Certificate and a Diploma in Hypnotherapy.  I hold an enhanced DBS clearance.

I offer remote sessions by phone/video, for which I am qualified to meet the BACP's own competency framework.   Why not contact me for your FREE no-obligation 20-minute consultation to discuss your needs.  You can also visit me on www.susanstonebridge.com.

Practice description

My practice is located in the peaceful area of Horsell, near Woking, Surrey and sessions are conducted from my dedicated therapy room.  I  offer on-line sessions using a highly encrypted secure telemedicine platform for which you do not need an account and which is extremely easy to use.  If you prefer, I can offer sessions by Zoom, Skype or FaceTime. although these are not as secure.  I also offer telephone sessions.  I am trained and qualified to deliver remote working to meet the BACP framework of competency, leading to membership of ACTO.

Sessions last for one hour and it is recommended that weekly sessions take place initially, until you are ready to extend the interval.

Many clients tell me that not only do they value the experience of feeling heard, empathically understood, accepted and validated, but they also value being taught specific skills and being given "tools" in the form of exercises and handouts so they can build up their own unique "toolkit" of interventions to take them forward into the future.  I have become a believer in the value of not only "talking" but "doing" therapy.

My first session

I will offer you an initial 20-minute consultation which is FREE of charge and without obligation, so you can tell me about the issues you wish to address and I can tell you about how I work and whether I think I can be of help to you.

If you decide to book your first full session, this will be dedicated to the setting up of the contract and conducting an in-depth assessment.  This is an important platform from which to take our work forward as it enables me to get to know you as a person and manage your expectations and goals for therapy. At the end of the assessment we will discuss and agree upon an appropriate treatment plan to meet your individual needs, also acknowledging that more issues are likely emerge during the course of our work together.  The first and subsequent sessions are charged at the full session rate.

I do not tie you in to a specific number of sessions but we will have regular reviews of progress to ensure that your goals continue to be met.
