I have been in practice for many years and do not have plans to retire. My working week covers three days and I have one or two available spaces. I work from a private house located on a major road very close to good transport links and metered parking. My professional background includes extensive trainings and experience in person centred, gestalt and psychodynamic therapy, the latter being the approach in which I have finally found my natural home. Before training as a therapist I was an Iyengar yoga teacher and took my degree in developmental psychology from the university of Sussex as a teenager. My fees are moderate. Please enquire about supervision or therapy by email or by ringing my mobile.

Availability
I am open to working with telephone, Skype and Zoom consultations, but I work face to face whenever this is possible.
Meeting in person in my consulting room is ideal, but these other mediums of communication are a good substitute when you are unable to get here, or even prefer to meet remotely.
Please make contact by sending an email on jenny@jcm.co.uk We can then make a time to talk briefly on the phone or arrange a day and time to have an initial 55 minute appointment.
I have a couple of regular spaces available at present.
About me and my therapy practice
I see counselling as a space or a relationship in which you can work through a difficult time, perhaps a crisis, with support; hopefully you will be turning a time of turmoil into a time of new growth and development. Counselling offers you a place of safety in which you can unpack whatever feelings and experiences you want to explore.
With support you may gain strength to change things or find a better way to carry them. In the longer term, counselling and therapy may help you become more self aware, integrated and happy.
Emotions such as anxiety and depression, troubling thoughts and traumatic memories, relationship difficulties in the present and past, these are examples of problems that can be explored and understood with support and empathy, and may be resolved or transformed.
We will set a contract for our work together, covering the fee, and timing of appointments and covering the agreement of how we will work together, confidentiality, holidays and breaks etc.
We can undertake to work together on a 'time limited' basis, ie with a pre set number of meetings and a specific focus for our work, or in a way which is called 'open ended', in which we allow time to work together until you feel ready to stop. When our contract together is 'open ended' we will undertake to conclude our work together slowly.
I generally see clients once a week, occasionally twice a week. We sit in comfortable chairs in my ground floor office/ therapy room. I listen attentively, sometimes offering observations and occasionally asking questions. I am not going to judge you, the sessions are confidential and you are welcome to speak freely.
I am guided by the BACP code of ethics. I am an accredited MBACP counsellor and therapist with well over twenty years experience working in GP surgeries and privately.
Practice description
I would describe my way of working as psychodynamic, valuing the experiences of childhood and even of previous generations in the family, but I have trained extensively in here and now Gestalt work and humanistic/ person centred work.
For many years I taught yoga and remain very attentive to the way our thoughts and emotions affect our minds and bodies.
My first session
You can self refer. Once you have contacted me by email or phone, and we have found a time when we can meet, we will then meet in my therapy room; here you can ask questions and share something of your story.
I do charge for this initial 55 minute 'therapy hour'.
If you do feel we are compatible, we will agree the fee and the appointment time; in the first session or two we will decide if you want to work for a limited number of sessions, or in a less restricted open ended way.
