Accredited Psychotherapist, EMDR Practitioner, Clinical Supervisor and Certified Teacher.
About me and my therapy practice
My Name is Nikki, I’m an Accredited Psychotherapist, Certified Teacher and EMDR Practitioner.
I began my career back in 2004 where I trained as an integrative therapist with an instant liking to Transactional Analysis. Over the years I have trained and learnt many techniques and strategies whilst also researching theories and methods to enhance my work. Over the years I have adapted these methods to provide a very powerful and holistic approach that drives change and empowerment with a variety of issues and concerns with people of all ages.
2008 I decided to work within the education sector and Youth Offending Service working with adolescence and parents providing therapeutic interventions to a variety of issues and concerns. This consisted of mainly individual sessions for young people and a psychoeducational approach for parents. During this period, I also had the opportunity to support colleges, schools, and academies to help develop the correct support within their establishments.
In 2010 I trained to become a Swedish Massage Therapist where I was combining my private adult therapeutic practice with the power of massage. By facilitating and teaching techniques to clients with trauma to help release physical symptoms that the body holds onto, many years after the trauma has been experienced.
I found myself drawn to teaching and was very much aware that my passion for Counselling and Psychotherapy had grown. In 2015 I felt I wanted to broaden my knowledge as well as encourage and facilitate others on their journey of self-discovery from a teaching approach. I have gone onto teach and write some amazing programmes for Regent’s University London, Havering Adult College, The NHS, and charities such as National Autistic Society and One Community.
I also have my own therapy regularly which I feel is paramount for a good therapist, as well as attending continuous clinical supervision and regular training events which supports my continued professional development.
Practice description
I feel my 20 years experience and training can be extremely beneficial for professionals looking for an experienced Clinical Supervisor.
My approach is very modern, integrative, and challenging, with remarkable realistic outcomes, with the basic belief and drive of helping to ‘empower clients’. Within this method the client builds confidence and self-esteem to achieve goals and change their lives. From a psychoeducational approach to EMDR this approach has been beneficial for individual adults, parents, adolescence, training environments, and clinical supervision. I work from a variety of modalities. However, TA is my preferred favourite and has always been highly effective.
I now have my own clinics after recently finishing my role as a Clinical Case Manager for a charity. I supervised social workers and therapists and trainee therapists whilst also managing a small case load. This was mainly trauma-based clients and parents who were experiencing violence from their children. Although working with violence and anger has been a theme throughout my career with young people, I now achieve great success with parents to gain more presence within their home through a specialised approach called NVR. My largest achievement at present has been my EMDR training where I was trained by Alexandra Richmond an EMDR Accredited Consultant who trained under the EMDR founder Dr Francine Shapiro. This particular training and techniques are specialised and regulated by the EMDR Association UK. This has helped me to move into working more within trauma, which is now where my passion has settled. Much of my private practice work ranges from abuse to serious mental health conditions to bereavement where I combine EMDR with my unique integrative approach.
Please contact me if you are looking to expand your knowledge with a unique and refreshing approach. I offer a free initial discussion to begin.
I look forward to connecting with you.
