About me and my therapy practice
I am a Person-Centred counsellor.
I have a Certificate of Counselling and Psychotherapy Supervision Practice from Macclesfield Counselling and Training Centre.
This training is based on the Shohet and Hawkins '7-Eyed Model' of supervision. This means we will look at what your clients present, what interventions you use, your relationship with your clients, your feelings about your work, how we work together, and the wider context of your counselling work.
I will endeavour to understand your way of working with clients. This will provide a way of supporting your development and safety, and consequently the quality and effectiveness of your work with your clients.

About me and my therapy practice
In these continuing difficult times you may be feeling anxious, isolated, unsure about the future. You may not be able to discuss these feelings with family or friends. I offer counselling by telephone or on-line, via Skype or Zoom, as well as face-to-face.
I am now also offering Outdoor Counselling to clients who would prefer to meet in the open air. This will be accessible for anyone. In our initial conversation we will work out what would best suit your needs.
I firmly believe that we ourselves have the means to solve any problem we may encounter. Counselling helps us to do this by providing an understanding, confidential and supportive environment for us to explore whatever may be troubling us. This exploration allows us to identify and understand the source of our difficulties, get a clearer view of how and why this currently affects us, and enables us to start thinking about what we can do to reduce the impact these difficulties are having on our life. This will help us take control of the situation and feel much more positive about our lives.
My training is Person-Centred. This means we will talk about what you want to discuss, and work at your pace. My starting point is that you are the expert on your life. My job is to assist and encourage you to gain a better understanding of whatever difficulties you are experiencing, in a safe, accepting and supportive environment. We may work towards this in an open-ended manner, until you feel you have reached your goal, or you may prefer to agree to a limited number of counselling sessions.
My first session
During our first session we will discuss what has brought you to counselling, and what you'd like to get from it. I may ask you to tell me a little bit about your history. You will be able to ask questions about any aspect of the counselling process. We will also discuss the terms of the contract, and methods of payment.
