About me and my therapy practice
About me as a Professional therapist and my Practice
I have a considerable number of years experience in working psychotherapeutically with a range of client issues and have also worked for many years as a psychotherapeutic trainer and supervisor.
I offer you a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship (within the bounds of BACP Ethical framework), where you can explore and resolve events that are causing distress in your life.
Due to the pandemic I no longer offer face to face sessions. I now work via video conferencing.
My training and preferred way of working
I am an integrative counsellor, trained to work within many theoretical models, including CBT and Person Centred therapy. I also have an interest in working with Attachment theory.
Whilst I am not a dedicated ACT therapist, my preferred way of working is with elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a 3rd wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It is a humanistic/ existential form of CBT that focuses on mindfulness and acceptance. ACT can be used both in long term and brief therapy. ACT places a major emphasis on values, forgiveness, acceptance, compassion, living in the present moment, and accessing a transcendent sense of self.
