About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Helen, thank you for looking at my profile.
I’ve worked as a Counsellor within the NHS, staff counselling programmes and charities for over 15 years. As well as supervising the work of junior counsellors, I've also been awarded Individual Accreditation by the BACP having demonstrated high standards of competent and ethical practice.
I draw from a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches to provide the right help for you depending on your needs and goals. This might include supporting you to develop a greater understanding of your issues, situation or self, or working more actively to help you develop solutions or coping strategies.
Models I've studied include, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and Third Wave CBT approaches including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). My work is also informed by and integrates findings from the latest neuroscience research.
I understand that attending therapy can feel daunting, but I’m friendly, compassionate, non judgemental, and work hard to ensure that you can experience being listened to and understood deeply. Whatever it is that is troubling you, your thoughts and feelings will be welcome here.
Practice description
I offer face to face sessions in my discreet, comfortable office at the Roy Fletcher Centre in Shrewsbury, or online sessions using Zoom, whichever you prefer.
We would think together about how many sessions you are likely to need to achieve your goals. I can offer time-limited short-term therapy or longer-term support. Often, we can make a difference in just a few sessions.
Please contact me to arrange an initial session to explore how counselling can help you and how we can work together to achieve your goals.
My first session
The first appointment is an opportunity for you to see if you feel comfortable talking with me and enables you to ask any questions you may have about the process. It also allows me to make a thorough assessment of your situation and goals so that I can figure out how to best help you in subsequent sessions.
At the end of the first session you may decide to book another appointment, or choose to go away and reflect on your experience before deciding whether or not to continue.
Please contact me to arrange an initial session to explore how counselling can help you and how we can work together to achieve your goals.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Helen.
I offer supervision to both trainee and qualified counsellors, either in-person or on Zoom.
I believe that I can support you to be the best counsellor you can be through a positive non-judgmental working relationship. I provide a warm, safe space for you to talk freely and in confidence about your work, offering you emotional support and guidance where appropriate.
Above all, for me, supervision is a collaborative, developmental and hopefully an enjoyable process.
Practice description
I have over fifteen years’ experience working as a counsellor in a variety of settings, including GP surgeries, counselling charities, employee assistance programmes and in private practice. I have held Individual Accreditation status with the BACP for over ten years. I completed my PGCert Level 7 in Clinical Supervision with Derby University in 2016.
Initially I trained as a Person-Centred counsellor and have since studied Psychodynamic and 3rd Wave CBT approaches including Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. I am able to offer pure Person Centred or integrative supervision.
