About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults who come with a range of issues but primarily interested in Domestic Abuse and Crime. I work with a Person Cented approach which means the sessions revolve around you. I do not judge or advise but be by your side with what you wish to talk about. I provide a safe and confidential space while you talk about any feelings, issues and difficulties you may be facing now or from your past. I understand that accessing counselling can feel daunting especially if you feel to blame. I do not judge or advise, but bring empathy and warmth to enable you to open up with what you are comfortable with.
Our first session will involve taking a deep dive into your personal history and set goals for your Counselling journey. The rest of the session will be for you. In subsequent sessions, choose what to bring to talk about and i will be by your side as you explore your feelings and overcome any hindering issues. You will feel lighter by talking and In time things will make sense and we will find a direction while we work towards your goal. When we are consistent and trust has developed, I may offer you creative ways of working which will help unlock any feelings or stuckness.
I have worked for many years within the field of Domestic Abuse and Young Offenders and so have a lot of experience working with clients who are victims/survivors of abuse and crime. I understand the cause and effect and the varying impactful issues that arise from living with or offending and the effect on the wider family and society.
I understand that accessing counselling to face things that affect our wellbeing takes courage. If you wish to find out more before you commit then I am available for a non obligatory 10 min chat to answer any questions you may have.
Practice description
As your Counsellor, I will provide you with a safe and confidential space and be there for you with whatever you wish to talk about. I will be by your side as you explore your situation and feelings by listening, restating and asking questions. I am highly empathic, warm and do not judge or advise.
My first session
I offer a free non obligatory 10 minute telephone consultation to take initial details and answer any questions you may have and to arrange our first session.
In our first session we will talk through expectations and agree on the structure of our sessions. We will take a deep dive into your personal history and plan a goal with what you would like to achieve throughout our sessions. I will check in towards the end of the hour and we will plan further sessions. We will have regular reviews to ensure you are on track to work towards your goal.
