About me and my therapy practice

How I work: As a dedicated psychotherapist, I am passionate about empowering individuals to overcome challenges and achieve psychological wellness. With a focus on creating a safe and non-judgmental space, I work collaboratively with my clients to explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. My goal is to facilitate personal insights and facilitate positive changes, leading to a more meaningful and balanced life.

I’m an integrative therapist which essentially means that I draw upon different ways of working according to what you need, and I tailor my approach to suit those needs.

I am person-centred at my core, my approach is allowing the client to lead on their own exploration of their thoughts and feelings while I feel it is my responsibility to create an environment to enable you to explore – you are the expert in your life

Brigsdale Therapy, is the name of my therapy practice. Please do check out the site to learn more.

About Brigsdale Therapy

Society, media and those closest to us have an idea of what Therapy (or Counselling) is and what it should look like and what must be achieved. The truth is that therapy is what you want it to be, it looks different for each person. My view is that therapy is a space where you come to make sense of it all.

At Brigsdale Therapy, we just want you to come as you are, be what you are and feel comfortable to show who you are. I want you to come and be unapologetically yourself, free of pretences – put down the mask!

Practice description

Engaging in therapy for the first time or the fourth time can be a daunting experience. Questions around "What will happen?, What am I expected to do?" can result in some anxiety and hesitation. I have provided some information below, but, if you want to know more, then please do reach out!

Assessments

Will be a free 20 min call to discuss your needs and requirements and to learn a bit more about me.

If we are both content to continue, I will send you the contract and a one page form to complete with your personal information.

Please do read the contract - its an agreement between both of us, and I want to make sure you are happy to proceed.

Session experience

Sessions with me are relaxed. My approach to therapy is that I do not have all the answers ( I am not all knowing) and that the client knows what's best for their life. I will smile, laugh and joke. I will also challenge, encourage and celebrate you. I see it as a journey and we will work together to create our own dynamic. How we relate to each other is the (I believe) the core to the success of therapy.

Sessions

Will continue at the same day/time each week. There may be some flexibility, but, its best that we ensure we are consistent.

Endings

Sessions can go on for as long as you want them too. This is up to you. When you are ready to finish therapy - you finish! It is customary (and nice) to have a final session so that we can reflect on our therapeutic journey.

Venue

Online sessions will take place on Zoom. I will provide the link for the sessions.

In person session take place at Spaces, 100 Avebury Boulevard in Milton Keynes. This a modern share spaced office. You will be greeted by a receptionist. There is a waiting room available.

My first session

Free Assessment

I offer a free assessment to discuss what you require from therapy. It also gives us both a chance to decide if we can believe we can work together to achieve your goal. The Assessment is very much a fact-finding mission.

The Assessment means that by the time we arrive at the first session, you will know me a bit more, we will have a sense of direction and hopefully you will feel comfortable to being to delve and explore further the reasons why you decided to pursue therapy.

First Session

Will take place either in person or on Zoom.

It will give us a chance to expand on the assessment and understand more about what you want from therapy. This session may also involve setting goals to ensure sessions have a focus.
