About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about helping people to overcome their difficulties in their lives and in empowering them to reach their full potential.
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor with a Level Four Diploma in Integrative counselling. My practice started in the voluntary sector, supporting adults who were experiencing domestic abuse and then supporting parents of children with autism and disabilities. For fourteen years I worked in an educational setting.
My experience during that time has been counselling young people from age 11yrs, running workshops, counselling teachers and setting up and running two successful counselling services in Grammar schools and Sixth form colleges. I now work in private practice working with Young people, University students and Adults.
Practice description

I have had some experience of trans gender ( not extensive)

I offer Person Centred, Humanistic, brief and creative therapy.
The work is tailored to your needs, for instance if you struggle to describe your feelings, we may use metaphor, creative writing or song lyrics.
I hold humanistic values which include importance of self-development and working with the whole of the person. We will explore your beliefs, feelings, thoughts and actions whilst I acknowledge and respect your own unique perspective, strengths and values.
Person-centred counselling underpins my work. I consider our relationship to be the most important element in predicting the success of our work together and that with the right support and conditions you will find your own answers.
The conditions are that I am genuine, non judgemental, empathic and respectful and accepting of you.
My first session
In this session I will complete an assessment of your needs with you, we will look at the issues that are relevant to you. We can discuss what you are hoping to gain from our work together.
You will also have an opportunity to ask questions about our work together and we can discuss any worries you may have about commencing the work. It is my hope at the beginning and during our work together that I will put you at ease and you will feel safe and supported.
We will go through a counselling agreement together and included in this will be confidentiality and limits of this due to safeguarding issues. We will discuss privacy and data protection.
You can get in touch before starting sessions by text or email if you would like to arrange a free 20min consultation. This is to see if we can work together and to give you an opportunity to ask any questions.
