About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Zoe, a fully qualified counsellor working with adults and teenagers.

I work privately in-person at the Eaves counselling service in Farnham alongside my role as a youth counsellor and walk and talk therapist with Winchester Youth Counselling.

I worked for many years as a teacher and then supporting vulnerable families at risk with the local authority children's services before re-training as a counsellor.

I have extensive experience through all these roles of supporting adults and young people through challenging life events including relationship breakdown and family separation, physical and mental health diagnoses and bereavement.

Practice description

We all at some point in our lives experience feelings of anxiety, low-mood, helplessness, anger or despair. Often, we are able to make sense of and work our way through with the help and support of those close to us.

However, at times, we may struggle to identify the root cause of our troubling thoughts or feelings or feel too overwhelmed by life events, particularly if they have been sudden and/or traumatic.

We may feel that we are a burden, others cope with worse or fear that if we do open up that people will be judgemental.

One of my key skills as a counsellor is to be that listening, empathic, non-judgemental ear. I do not offer advice or try to fix you.

I believe that you are the expert in your own life and us working together will allow you the time and space to identify your true feelings, figure out the root cause of current difficulties, consider options, where changes can be made or come to accept where they cannot.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute telephone or zoom call prior to the first session. This will give the opportunity to briefly discuss current issues or difficulties and how we could work together.

If you decide that you would like us to work together, I will send out contract details and an initial consultation form for you to complete in your own time before the first session.

This will cover personal details, further background information on your presenting issues and GP details. During our first session, there will be the opportunity to further discuss details from the initial consultation form and for us to look at setting more specific goals and a review time-frame.

I ask for payment via BACS transfer prior to each session.
