About me and my therapy practice
I am a Humanistic/ Existential counsellor who is passionate about the potential therapy has to improve mental wellbeing.
During our busy and complex lives we can often become overwhelmed by problems and feel that we have no-one who understands. Through counselling , you will find a uniquely supportive and empathic space in which to be truly heard and understood.
Whether you have a specific issue that is troubling you , or would like to explore more deeply how you feel about yourself and your beliefs, values and relationships - counselling can help you figure out some answers.
Through having the opportunity to explore your thoughts, behaviours and emotions this can help to gain understanding, clarity and insight. When you are empowered by these then it is possible to feel more resilient and in control of your life. This can enable potential positive choices and effect change where it is desired.
Practice description
I work in a person- centered way, always acknowledging that your experiences and problems are unique to you.
I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is all important in achieving positive outcomes from therapy. So I aim to provide a warm, welcoming, confidential and safe environment where you feel able to trust me with whatever is troubling you - without any fear of judgement.
My therapeutic approach is non directive and very much client-led - what we focus on is your choice alone and we proceed at whatever pace is comfortable for you.
My first session
I offer a free initial 15 minute video consultation for you to find out more about what counselling entails and to ask any questions. It's also important at this stage to make sure you feel comfortable and relaxed - I will aim to put you at your ease and make the experience a positive one.
You don't need to make a decision about committing to counselling straight away. If you go away and have a think about it, and feel that I would be a good fit for your needs, we would take it from there. I would send you all the necessary paperwork by email and set up a first therapy session via video or telephone.
