About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Colin and thank you for visiting my profile page.

I am a Accredted Person-Centred Counsellor who is fortunate enough to work in both Private Practice and also in education as a School Counsellor.

In my practice I work with both adults and young people (12-18) who attend counselling for a range of concerns including anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, grief and school-related issues.

As your Counsellor I believe that I am in a privileged position to support you to help you achieve positive change in your life, and offer a safe and confidential space for our sessions together.

In our relationship I will be open, honest and listen to you with empathy, offering a confidential and safe environment to help our relationship flourish.

Our sessions together will be based on trust and respect to you to ensure that you have the best chance of a positive outcome from attending counselling.

As a Person-Centred Counsellor I bring a warm and empathic presence to each Counselling Session.

If you decide to attend counselling I can assure you that I do not put on a "counselling hat" for our sessions together, the person you meet is who I am and you will get all of me in our time together, with my attention fully focused on you.

In addition to my professional counselling qualifications I also bring many years of life experience to my practice (including my many years working in industry and also as a Samaritans Volunteer) which I feel compliment my position as a Counsellor.

Practice description

Working as a Person-Centred Counsellor I believe that potential clients will find me to be kind, genuine and honest, and always having your best interests at heart.

At the start of Counselling we will discuss your concerns and also what goals you may have and what you would like to get out of Counselling.

As stated in the previous section I also have many years experience as a School Counsellor at a large comprehensive School where I work with young people between the ages of 12 - 18.

It is my experience that it can sometimes be difficult for school pupils to gain quick access to school counselling services or a CAHMS referral, so if you have any concerns and would like to talk about counselling for your own child then please get in touch.

My counselling practice is based in The Old Village Area of East Kilbride where I am available for both face to face and online Counselling.

There is an area for parking close to my counselling room which is also a short walk from East Kilbride Railway Station, which has a half-hourly service to Glasgow, and the East Kilbride Bus Station is a 10 minute walk away.

My first session

Prior to our first session being agreed I offer a free 30 minute (face-to-face/or phone) pre-counselling chat to discuss how I can support you and answer any counselling-related questions you may have.

This discussion can also help you decide if I will be the right counsellor for you, as a good realtionship between us can help ensure counselling will be a success.
