About me and my therapy practice
I work from home in Putney/Wandsworth in London. My sessions are one hour long. I work face to face and person to person. I engage in conversation with my clients and interact with them to set up a good therapist/client relationship. The issues of trust and safety are important to me and how to enable this in my work with my clients. I encourage and support my clients to bring what is troubling them-and to explore this in an atmosphere of openness taking my lead from them and going at a pace which works best for them.
Practice description
I am a psychosynthesis psychotherapist and the easiest way to explain this is that I include the spiritual questions that some people are intrigued by and curious about. I also look at what is causing a person pain or suffering or unhappiness. This often brings someone into therapy and together with my client we explore the hidden meanings of this from present time and into past history-(the here and now and the there and then). We can then explore the possibility of living life in a different and potentially more fulfilling way both individually and in relationship with others.
My first session
The first session is to find out what brings a person into my counselling room and what they are hoping to discover from being in therapy. This includes creating a contract with the client and being clear on fees, times of sessions and confidentiality. I would want to learn a little about the history and background story and any details the client might think important. It is also an opportunity for the client to ask me questions about how I work and any other questions that might be helpful for the client to know about my experience as a therapist and areas of interest. I would explain what it means to be a BACP member and any questions that might arise from this.
