About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Emily, and I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist trained in Person-Centred and Psychodynamic approaches. My work is relational, meaning I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to healing. I am deeply committed to fostering and nurturing that connection, as I believe the quality of our relationships with ourselves and others greatly impacts our mental and physical wellbeing

I work in a warm and collaborative way with my clients, where safety and trust are paramount. To me, therapy is a confidential space where we can explore what it means to be human together. I believe in recognising you as a multifaceted being with unique needs. We will embrace all parts of you - the strengths, the challenges, and everything in between - with deep compassion and curiosity. Together, we will create an environment of acceptance and understanding, helping bring your authentic self to the forefront.

Practice description

I am dedicated to understanding the full depth and spectrum of your experiences at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we will explore your current context through a holistic lens, reflecting on your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in the here and now. I will also provide space for you to reflect on how past relationships may be shaping your present ones, including an exploration of your intergenerational history. My goal is to help you cultivate a deeper and more fulfilling relationship with yourself and others, fostering greater self-awareness and supporting you in moving forward with balance and intention.

Guided by these principles, I aim to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in care, honesty, and openness. While true honesty can be difficult, I believe real and lasting change often emerges in those challenging, confronting moments. This may involve reflecting on the coping mechanisms that are no longer serving you, identifying which ones may be hindering you rather than protecting you.

My approach is direct when needed, yet always supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I am committed to entering the more difficult and darker spaces alongside you. Together, we will explore the creative potential within life’s contradictions and complexities, cultivating the strength to move forward when it may feel hopeless. I believe that embracing moments of joy and humour is an important part of the healing and growth process, and I look forward to sharing these moments with you as we work together.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation where you can ask any questions and see if we are a good fit. Please send me an enquiry so we can organise a suitable time.

After the consulation, I offer weekly sessions that are 50 minutes long via video call or telephone.
