About me and my therapy practice
You may be seeking therapy because you feel like you are in crisis and/or you cannot cope. Or perhaps you're seeking therapy as a consequence of a specific long-term problem or childhood trauma. Or maybe you have a general sense of wanting to understand yourself and grow. I provide a confidential space where I will listen to you without judgement, and support you as we work through any challenges from the past and/or in the present, together. I have both in-person (Sheffield city centre) and online/telephone availability.
I have NHS experience from working in an IAPT Centre, where I provided psychotherapeutic counselling to adults in West London. Consequently, I have experience of working with a variety of mental health issues. These include anxiety, depression, relationship problems, trauma, bereavement/loss, low self-esteem, sexuality, work-related issues, pet bereavement and anger management. I now run my own successful private practice.
I have experience of short and long-term counselling, working with people from a variety of backgrounds. This includes working with issues that involve a relational, sexual and/or LGBTQ+ focus.
Practice description
I am an accredited member of the BACP and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am qualified in both integrative therapeutic counselling and CBT. I am also qualified in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) which is an evidenced based approach for working with depression that is used by the NHS. I am a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP) and I am able to draw upon various techniques to work with adverse childhood experience and PTSD. These include using the rewind technique to treat PTSD.
I offer integrative talking therapy in order to provide the necessary conditions for healing, personal development and growth. I also offer trauma focussed therapy, as well as CBT which can help you to become your own therapist, by learning how to recognise and change your own automatic thoughts and behaviours.
Once we start working together, I will suggest regular reviews of our progress. These reviews will use NHS approved mental health audit tools to guide us to a successful outcome.
My first session
I offer a free telephone consultation/assessment where we can explore your hopes and goals for therapy. I can also answer any questions you might have about me or my practice, and we can work out how we might work together.
In the first instance, you may want to commit to a limited number of sessions, or you may want a more open-ended approach. We can discuss this in our initial consultation.
