About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about mental health and wellbeing and believe change is possible through counselling. You may be feeling anxious, lost or overwhelmed; whatever the reasons are that have brought you here, I can help you understand your thoughts and feelings so that you become more self-aware, confident and independent in finding your own way forward.
I am a qualified person-centred therapist and I offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore your feelings free from judgements. I accept you for the unique person you are. My approach is gentle, compassionate, tailored to your needs and takes place at your pace.
I will carefully listen with empathy and gently challenge you when appropriate. I am honest in my communications and have your best interest at heart, integrity being a key value of mine. I work on building trust in our therapeutic relationship so that you can talk freely about whatever is on your mind.
Practice description
Currently offering online or telephone counselling sessions. From March 2024 I will be offering face to face sessions. An agreement needs to be signed before counselling begins which address confidentiality, data protection, cancellations and payments.
Sessions are usually weekly and 50 minutes long. Regular reviews take place where I welcome feedback to check counselling is still helping and if I can do anything differently to benefit you.
My first session
The first step is to contact me via email or phone to arrange a free 15 minute phone or online call, so that we can check how we could work together. After this takes place, we can book the first session in.
At the first session you will have the chance to share what brings you to counselling and have an opportunity to see if you feel comfortable working with me. I will explain how I work with you and go through the working agreement. You can ask me questions about counselling or anything you are unsure about.
You decide what you wish to talk about. Perhaps you want to discuss what you are hoping to gain from counselling or you may wish to talk straight away about something that is worrying you.
Perhaps you are feeling uneasy about seeking counselling and I will do my best to help you feel relaxed. Often talking can help you feel and see things differently and I will support you on your journey for as long as you need me.
After having the first session with me, you decide if you want to continue having therapy sessions with me.
