About me and my therapy practice
I'm an integrative therapist working both in-person and online with individuals. As well as helping my clients with general mental and emotional challenges, I have a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, trauma and relational issues.
I offer you a confidential space where you can be listened to without fear of judgement, and where, together we can look at what is concerning you with the aim of restoring your sense of wellbeing.
I see therapy as a collaborative, rather than prescriptive, process and work to understand how you experience the world with the aim of supporting you to make meaningful, long-lasting changes which positively impact your relationships with your self and others.
Working with a trauma-informed lens, I pay attention to the impact of trauma on the body and include practices to support you to manage trauma symptoms.
Practice description
During our work together I support you to overcome the impact of stress, anxiety, and depression and to work through painful experiences of trauma, loss and bereavement.
Central to the work is building a safe trusting relationship, where it is possible to discuss challenging personal experiences. I recognise how shame and guilt may be a barrier to building healthy relationships and help you to release these. As a trauma-informed practitioner I'm interested to understand what has happened to you, and to see how your experiences have shaped you. I don't see clients as people who need fixing, rather as people who may feel stuck or concerned about some aspect of their relationships, and who need understanding to heal from their inner experiences or wounding.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw upon a number of established therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic, relational, transpersonal and trauma-informed and work with you to explore the meaning you have made about yourself and your relationships with other people.
My first session
At our first session, I will ask you about how you are feeling mentally, emotionally and physically and about your concerns and goals. I will also ask about your background and any previous experiences of therapy. This will help inform me how best to work with you. Together we will agree a therapeutic plan and sign a contract covering data protection, confidentiality etc.
As psychotherapy and counselling is a collaborative process, it is important you find a therapist who you feel comfortable with. I offer an initial call to give you an opportunity to meet me and to ask any questions you may have.
